I am a fan of all Lucas gun products. Got a bottle of CLP about 6 feet from me now, in my junky living room. (Now, if I could only find my guns...)Have any of you tried it ? I picked some up today from the same auto parts store I got the Mechanix Wear gloves from. It was $8 so I thought I'd give it a try.
I use both Lucas and Rem, are generally good products. The companies and have been out for years in one form or another. Lucas used to be mostly automotive, is very familiar with mechanical products.I went from Rem Oil to Lucas products, works great...
Oh I don't think I'm giving up the Rem oil. I love that stuff. I like the Weapon Shield oil too.I went from Rem Oil to Lucas products, works great...
Yes, I clean mine after a few uses. Just stuff it in an old sock, tie it off, and throw it in the washing machine. Hang it up to dry (Out of the sock, of course). Here's another semi-related question ( I don't want to start a whole new thread when we have this here perfectly good one). For you guys that use bore snakes ( I use them for handguns sometimes, but I don't have any for my rifles or ARs).
Do you clean them? I mean you can't just use them indefinitely right?

Grit can get built up in the snakes, and possibly damage the bore if they get too dirty.
Thanks Hans, very good tip!Yes, I clean mine after a few uses. Just stuff it in an old sock, tie it off, and throw it in the washing machine. Hang it up to dry (Out of the sock, of course).

Some people just pitch after getting them too grungy & others just lay out the snakes, spray on gun cleaner & clean with brush. Hang up until dry. I like Han's method too. That's what I figured too. I just didn't know if I should pitch them or if I could clean them. Thanks Hans.

Don't ask, don't tell...Yeah, the wife just informed me there's no way in hell I'm washing my bore snakes in her washing machine.

It's all good until she breaks out in hives. She is extremely chemically intolerant.
She says I should use a bucket with hot water and dish soap. Shake the F out of it, hit it with a brush and rinse it off with a hose.
....sorta knew that was coming?Yeah, the wife just informed me there's no way in hell I'm washing my bore snakes in her washing machine.
Smart lady. Some of that stuff is pretty nasty. "It's all good until she breaks out in hives. She is extremely chemically intolerant." Situation here too. It's all good until she breaks out in hives. She is extremely chemically intolerant.

I was about to suggest dish detergent and a thorough hot water rinse, then the clothesline in the sun ( or equivalent). It's all good until she breaks out in hives. She is extremely chemically intolerant.

Yeah, for a single guy. I wouldn't imagine too many wives would be ok with it.I was about to suggest dish detergent and a thorough hot water rinse, then the clothesline in the sun ( or equivalent).
But Hans’ idea is spot on..
Same here.I use Lucas Oil Extreme Duty Oil, CLP and recently tried the ED Bore Solvent, for me, these products work great plus they don’t have a strong smell, I have had no issues with Lucas Oil
