M1903A3

I bought it sporterized, so keeping it original isn't possible. However, I plan on buying an original 1903 & 1917 when funds allow.

The problem I have is with the magazine cutoff. With in ON, it functions fine. It will cycle rounds out of the magazine.

Here's my problem, with it off, when you open the bolt, it comes right out. There's nothing to stop it.

This concerns me enough to believe that someone has altered the bolt. Gunsmiths are in short supply in the CPRNJ so I haven't fired it yet.

The mag cutoff should only allow the bolt to be removed when it's in the 1/2 position between ON and OFF.

If it's totally down in the OFF position the bolt should not be removeable, but if it is then the issue is the magazine cutoff piece itself and not the bolt.

The new cutoff switch should be here tomorrow. I'll post pics when I swap it out.

Always wanted a 1903A3 but never did buy one. Now they are so expensive. I love the 1917 Enfields. Have had several. Sacrificed my last one to build my son in Alaska a 9.3 x 62 Mauser for bear hunting in Alaska
