Has anyone heard about M!A Select Fire or M!A Super Match Select Fire? Does anyone have the number of Super Match Select Fire produced?

M14 historian Lee Emerson (Different on the boards) had a select fire Springfield M1A.

The M1A Super Match is dedicated & tuned competition rifle and is semi-auto only.
Springfield Armory made select-fire M1A Standards until early 1986.

How many were made? with the heavy barrel, it is controllable in full auto. One may be up for sale, for the right price, which is much more than a plain full auto MIA. I makes a great sniper rifle with the full auto for when that is needed, and needed for the full auto to be controlled. The Army had plans for a heavy barrel to make the full auto actually work, but moved on to the M16 for the current war in Vietnam. The BAR worked because it was heavy, but it was not a sniper rifle. A full auto M14 with a heavy barrel would have been useful in Afghanistan.
