M1A Socom MisFire Issue

Hello,
I just shot my BRAND NEW M1A SOCOM rifle yesterday at the range for the first time. However, in the 60 rounds i had 4 misfires where the round failed to load. At first I thought it was magazine issue.
I did however use .308 ammo with soft point. It was suggested to me by the range officer to try Full Metal Jackets instead. Also in addition to that I went to the store today to pick up .308 FMJ and the guy in the store said he would use the 7.62 Mil Spec FMJ instead.

So anyone have any loading issues? Does anyone have comments on the ammo?
Thanks for any help

What brand was the first one you were trying, I would try a different brand, myself, I would use fmj, but that’s me.

Did you have it properly lubed? The M1 and M1A platforms have to be greased properly to work since that's how they were built. If they're dry then there will be issues.

Yes, as stated, if it were mine I’d give it a good cleaning first. I’d try Mil-spec ammo and also take a look at the spindle valve. Also make sure the magazine is fully seated, it could “trick” you as in your think it is but it’s not.

I had the same issue with a 2018 made new Loaded version. However, I have yet to have a single issue with yesterday's broken in May 2020 made Scout. I fired 80 rounds trying to zero the weapon. Very smooth operation compared to the Loaded.

The more I fired the Loaded the less failure to fire episodes occurring. I got into the habit of slapping the magazine and hitting the bolt at each loading. I bought a bolt disassembly tool to disassemble the Loaded bolt to thoroughly clean the firing pin, etc. I suspect the bolt as well as magazine feeding are the issues.

My buddy Howard talks about his SOCOM 16 M1a and his optic MWU: Vortex Crossfire II Scout Scope.
