On the standard model there is only ~11 ounces difference in weight.

On the loaded model the difference is only ~5 ounces.
Syn 9 lb 3 oz, wood 9lbs 8 oz.

I think I will leave it as is love the wood.
 
The gov't used wooden stocks as well as fiberglass. The brown fiberglass stocks used to be fairly inexpensive from Freds. The fiberglass stocks hold up better in damp, humid, jungle-like conditions better than wood.
 
Hell, I paid almost $400 to put a wood stock on mine and dump the glass that it came with (technically the glass stock is still in my closet...). I don't hoard anything except firearms parts.
