Massad Ayoob on 3am knock on the door

There will be no ring doorbell at my house ever.
Chester, is as nice as they come, fork with the food guy his evil twin appears. He has perfected the art of grabbing an ankle and tipping over large grown men in a blink of an eye.
Nothing good comes from 3am knocks or phone calls.

First here's the actual video.

Second, it's already been said but we're a quarter of the way through the 21st century how do you not have a ring doorbell or it's equivalent on your door?

If someone were to knock on my door at 3:00 in the morning I would definitely acknowledge that they were there. I would make sure that they knew that somebody was awake in the house and aware of their presence but it wouldn't open the door unless I knew exactly who it was.
No ring or any camera dependent on wi-fi. Closed system, very well hidden and I can see you coming all the way from the highway which is about 1/4 mile down the street, as well as anywhere on my property.

I don't like Ring door bells because law enforcement can gain access to the footage without my knowledge, and I don't like the idea of a company or nameless faceless person at the company having access to my daily schedule, who comes and goes from my home, what I'm doing, and what products I bring into or take out of my home. They can't even keep passwords and credit card information secure. I don't want anything that connects to the internet or especially a 3rd party service. It's already documented that the government collect and store all my emails, text messages, phone calls, and internet search queries, so there's no doubt in my mind that they're surveilling Ring cameras and inside of the home security camera footage.

I just don't go to the door if someone knocks in the middle of the night. I look out of the window or through the peephole during respectable hours. Everyone I know who would come to my home wouldn't show up without calling first. I know ahead of time and am on the lookout if I have ammo or an item that requires a signature being delivered. I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, and I don't answer the door if I don't know who you are unless I'm expecting a package to be delivered. It doesn't matter what time of the day it is.
