mc operator slide can't be removed

Very appreciated for everybody's feedback here. So as we knew there was some metal piece blocking and like some stated it's normal for 1911 and needs to slam it forward. I took that into consideration and used a hammer to hit a small wood precisely behind the slide and it came right off.

ok putting this back together. does the double spring side goes to the top of the barrel? I forgot now with all that ordeal i went through

i have no idea on that piece of metal that i am seeing, but you had better check that guide rod's "horse shoe" area. if it comes from there, do not reassemble, get a new one

it can be from the inside of the frame, anywhere, maybe even from the barrel area where the holes were drilled.

i am not certain, but it "might" go onto that "tip" of the guide rod, i saw in your few pics you posted earlier, i just cannot say for certain.

look for a smaller diameter on that guide rod for where it might fit.

The double spring would go at the end of the guide rod under the chamber. That picture with the slide off and showing the guide rod and barrel, that horse shoe end of the rod looks all boogered up. Something is a miss.

FYI, if you bought the gun new and then installed the aftermarket barrel, the barrel needs to be fitted, even though it may say drop in, none are, I have always had to fit a aftermarket barrel no matter who manufactured it.

yeah, it looked that way to me as well, i just don't know if that small piece of metal, comes from that or someplace else.
 
what does fitting the barrel mean? since i bought this used, it came like this, i do prefer to leave it as a 460 though because that's the reason i bought it. what do i need to do to make this work with the barrel to fit it?

and you guys are right, that guide rod is so screwed up, it's bent. What would be a good ideal guide rod to buy in place of this one, this one needs a allen wrench and it's comes in 2 pieces

I would contact Dawson Precision and see if they make a toolless recoil rod. Wilson Combat also does toolless recoil rods.

Fitting means making the barrel mate properly to both the frame & slide. Usually involves a bit of filing and sanding…and it’s not for the inexperienced.
 
ok you guys got me worried now to shoot this using the 460 barrel since it's not fitted. I don't want to do my new toy harm further. Let me go talk to Rowland 460 to get his feedback as well.

Also I will go buy a one piece dawson or wilson recoil rod as either one is reputable. this will work for both 45acp and rowland460 too right? Anything thing else to go buy since i'm going shopping?

since you say you bought the gun used, you really don't know if it was fitted or not, and if so, was it professionally done, or done by a hobbyist....many 1911 owners can fit parts, but after learning..SLOWLY...

now on the other hand, if you bought it from the last owner, and you know that person very well, then you can just ask him.

if it were an original 1911 guide rod, then i'd say another 1911 guide rod should work.

however, you have a different barrel, from a company that might have thier own specs for what works, and what will give you issues.

in the end.>??

i'd seek out a local gunsmith, or see if Rowland can make repairs/fittings.

either way, there will be "some sort" of costs involved i'd imagine.
 
When I bought it i talked to the original owner, it's not fitted and bought as a drop in.

i had to buy the guild recoil rod from rowland website and it's in 2 pieces again. i didn't want to chance it with a 1 piece that isn't designed for a rowland conversion

Well, if it’s a drop in, it’s actually not, and should be fitted by a smith or you may run into this situation again.

at the very least, a smith should at least "look at it". the old advertising for Fram oil filters...

"you can pay me now,....or pay me later"
