As a Jew myself, trust me, I detest all things Nazi. But I'd have to respectfully disagree with you here. Both "Ze Chermans" & the Japanese thought their people were the "master race." Now, in "Chermany," Muslims race, murder, & defile churches & Synagogues, & hardly a peep from their government. This has been going on for the better part of 20+ yrs.

Meanwhile, the Japanese HAVEN'T let in massive numbers of immigrants of ANY variety because, despite them being nuked to end WW2, they're still a pretty closed society when it comes to "gaijin," (meaning "barbarian," not "foreigner"). And they certainly don't hate US. They hate who they've hated for thousands of years, the Chinese. And that works out well for us.

I remember in the 70s the general opinion was that Japanese cars, motorcycles and guitars were junk. Kinda the way people view cheap Chinese crap now. Today some of those Japanese guitars are worth big money because they are much better built than American guitars of the era. It's widely accepted that Japanese made stuff is pretty top notch. Thing is, like everyone else, Japan is now outsourcing a lot of their production to China.

As far as quality there is a pecking order when it comes to Asian manufacturing. Japan and S.Korea being the top 2.

I've been a Honda/Acura fan FOREVER. And converted my wife as well. Acura is the only car we'll buy nowadays. We went with Accords for a while, & they're nice. But we like the extra bells & whistles of the RDX & TLX.

Speaking of, while I was in England, despite reserving a Golf rental car the rental girl thought she was doing us a fair giving us an SUV, which is the wrong choice for a host of reasons in England. Anyway, the SUV wore the venerable MG marque, which is now made in China. It was a total POS with a gearbox that felt like a WWII coffee grinder and a steering wheel that was offset from the driver’s seat. Sad in so many ways. I came across a Gen1 MX5 (Miata) in showroom condition for £4500. I nearly bought it and put it in storage.

In storage for what ? You planning on retiring back in England ?

Still got Porsches though. I’ll manage.
As big an Anglophile as I am, I don't think I'd be willing to give up my guns. ESPECIALLY with all the not-so-random anymore acts of jihad. Granted, there hasn't been 1 for a bit, but still, I'm willing to bet if y'all were still an armed populace, SOME of those incidents mighty very well have been stopped sooner. As it is now, though, it's not good enough to just call the cops, you gotta hope the cops WITH THE GUNS get there PDQ

You’ll always be welcome, no matter which side of the Atlantic I’m on.
I wanna come & eat my way through hole in wall pubs on a mission to fund the best bangers & mash I the UK! My parents took me to London for the millennium, & I had a BLAST (went & saw Paul Oakenfold @ a 5 story club after watching Big Ben hit midnight & my parents went back to the hotel). Nevertheless, I became bangers & mash FIEND.

Not to mention all the AMAZING historical areas/sights, since I'm a history nut. What an amazing, beautiful, & historical country, zbb

It’s funny because Americans slam British food, but every time I go back my only must dos are food and aircraft related. I dubbed my recent trip the Spitfires, Tea and Scone Tour.

Glad you have good memories of your trip. Paul Oakenfeld must have been a blast!

My sister in law across the street is English. Staleybridge. I love her cooking.

I remember after watching Big Ben strike midnight, my Dad handing me his platinum MasterCard & saying, "This will NEVER happen again. Have a good time." 😁

And, MAN, DID I!!!
