Did probable cause come from some nefarious or careless individual squealing to save his own hide?
This day and age could a LGS be that ignorant..and stupid?
Some of the charges listed in the article are frivolous probably more of a courtesy than a cheat, certainly unconventional or was it just lazy. Doing someone a favor of deducting the sales tax in order to make a sale is a common practice that makes the customer feel like they’re getting a good deal. It’s a defense that won’t cut it. But it’s a big deal in the FFL world when it comes to DOJ and record keeping for the IRS.
Unanswered and suspicious of who-asked-who to “manufacture“ and/or add a part on the purchased firearm or did someone purposely trade-in an altered firearm only to be repurchased during the set up? It might be that regulations being so stringent it’s getting tougher to find a mark to bring up the numbers for the administration to posture on.
Three visits and four charges. Plea on one other three drop, pay hefty fines, restitution and a legal defense bills. It’s the best they can do. No wiggle room.
Bottom line: Add another name to the FFL revocation list.
