That's the very reason why I haven't run it. Drywall dust would ruin it in short order.
Once the ceiling and walls are primed, I will put the front end back together and fire it up.

i have a samsung 24k btu in the BUS garage and a diakin in the house thats 18k btu
both will freeze your jib-lets. real good building insulation is key and in the garage...VACUMMING the tracked in dust and dog hair daily is a MUST

Signed the paperwork yesterday for them to come and replace old unit. Hopefully i will have the new system in by the end of the month. Now its just a waiting game and hope the old girl has a few more weeks in her!

$5300 for me. Replaced mine 5/3 of this year. Just the 3.5T 230V condenser unit + coolant.
 
They called me this afternoon and the new unit will be installed on 27 July. It's 110 in the backyard right now and hope the old girl can last until then! $6700 for the replacement.

Today it finally told me enough is enough. It will have to be replaced. Local HVAC company came out and said its time. They have repaired it to keep it going until they can come to replace it. Did not go with Carrier this time my guy suggests a York system. They will replace heater also as it is 22 years old also. Just wish it would have come at a better time but what can you do. Consider yourself lucky. I lost my 50ish year old furnace a couple of years ago during a polar vortex. Was unrepairable and was 3 days till a new unit was installed and running in -0 weather. My gas fireplace and space heaters were not enough to keep my pipes and water heater from freezing. End result was new Lennox Furnace and A/C which they didn't think would last the next summer plus new water heater and repaired bursted frozen pipes. All told $25K.

Talked to insurance company. My homeowners does not cover appliances without a special rider. It would have covered any water damage caused by the ruptured pipes put there was none because we had shut off the main and the only water in the pipes was the ice that burst them. Thawed them, replaced the split pipes and turned the water back on. Have been lucky, that was the only time in over 30 years that I made a claim against homeowners.
