Most miserable ailment i have had.

Damn, I have had to put my dislocated shoulder back in place hundreds of times, including the very first time. I had arthritis so bad i had to get two hip replacements. But nothing, nothing is more miserable than what this is. Started last week with a light feeling of a pulled back muscle and was feeling better. Then last night it changed to heavy pain on the right side of back just above my bottom, and a severe burning throbing on the front of my thigh.

Went to ER this morning and they say bad sciatica inflammation. This is as miserable as anything I have ever had. Sit, walk, lay it just throbs. Walking is practically impossible, extreme pain and burning feels like I am going to fall over in a matter of feet even with a walker, kept the one from the hip replacements.

Dang, I always thought people that had it were exaggerating just how miserable it is, it's worse lol. Found a halfway comfortable contorted position in the chair and now my thigh muscle is twitching like crazy, and pain starting to throb a bit, time to move. So far the pain meds do squat, going to be a long night

I have had it just once. It manifests differently, depending on the part of the nerve that is being irritated and to what degree. A couple of years ago I had to take three weeks off work because of it. Mine started in my haunch (upper butt cheek, I guess), but it settled in my shin, of all places. The pain there was.... unbearable. Imagine walking at a very brisk pace, and having your shin contact a trailer hitch. There was nothing I could do or take to relieve the pain. It was constant. It finally began to fade at the three week mark.

So I really feel for what you are going through. Hang in there and search for little ways to relieve the pain, even just momentarily. I wish I could give you some valuable advice, but all I can do is say that I get it. I hope your case heals quickly, and I wish you well.

I have had it several times. Please be very careful with the pain meds! Mine stomach got messed up taking them and after the sciatica got better my stomach was so messed up I had to have a bowel resection! So, no more meds for me. I usually get hit with it now once a year and it takes 3-4 weeks to feel better. You have to try to keep moving. Laying down is the worst thing for it. I feel your pain. Hope it clears up soon but watch the pain meds---they are poison.

I have bouts with it. A chiropractor fixes it right up for me.

That sounds like a perfect lil slice of hell

Nothing worse then back issues, I feel for you, try to take care, trust me I know it isn’t easy.

Chiropractor fixes it? Oh going to have to look into that.
Indeed. Every time it happens, he fixes it first session. About 4 days later I start feeling it a little bit and I go back. That usually buys me time. Sometimes 6 months, sometimes a year.

What sucked was going to Donna Texas to move my brother in law's step mom back up here a few years ago and it decides to happen. I spent the majority of the time everyone was packing, moving slow and in pain, watching them do most of the work. Last day I found a Mexican lady chiropractor and she hooked me up. It was poor timing on my part. Or great timing depending on how you look at it.:p

I have a good friend with serious back issues (two operations) that has had severe sciatica, and still dealing with pain issues.

I ruptured a disc that caused sciatica in my hip down the back of my right leg and into my foot. It felt like someone rammed a white hot poker down the nerve. I had surgery in '95 which fixed the disc and sciatica but my leg and foot are numb. Pain meds didn't work for me.
