Good article Talyn. I'm glad I gave up smoking in 1990. 🚭:sneaky:

Back in the day when I was a kid the family was watching TV, and a commercial came on with the actor who played the defense attorney on Perry Mason asking folks to stop smoking since he was dying of lung cancer. I turned around and asked my Dad ( not a heavy smoker) to stop smoking, and he did.

Later when he had his first heart attack the Dr said that he stopped smoking in time to have little fluid build up in his lungs. Apparently cigarette smokers who have attacks get considerable fluid build up.

I figured I had helped Dad a bit by getting him to stop.

I also remember the Yul Brynner ads asking folks to stop smoking since he was also dying.

Ah yes, the actor that play the Prosecutor "Hamilton Burger" (or as his friends called him "Ham Burger". I remember when Yul Brenner came out with his warnings and even recently, Leonard Nimoy who died from COPD. My family and I did the same with my father who was a 3 pack a day Philip Morris smoker (no filter). He did for three weeks, and after yelling and screaming his head off and generally being in a pissed off mood the entire 3 week, we implored him to take it back up 😁. He just could refrain from smoking and it eventually killed him at age 57. He continued to smoke until list last few days.

I stopped smoking in 1996 and became disabled in 2005 with stage 3 COPD. I smoked 2 - 2 1/2 packs a day all while welding for a living. Today I am diabetic , stage 3 COPD , age 65 , over weight , and kidney stone problems , plus had gallbladder surgery.

I'm not worried .

Yes just hate to miss a day of work. I only missed 2 days of work since my son was born. That because my house got flooded in 2018 ( 3 feet in basement ).I do take hunting days off and I did go one a vacation for a week once a couple years ago.

Well you sound like your in very good health. It may be worthwhile to get just a checkup to confirm that. In my case, it's call peace of mind.
