Fake service dogs are an outrage. I know some professional trainers who are sure to go on a rant when this comes up. There is no national certifying agency.

i know, but it should be done on the state level, like our handicapped parking permits. it can be done, but the SOB's that get elected into office, are more concerned with allowing illegals come into this country, or building bike paths, or GUN CONTROL..!!!!!
like i mentioned a few times, i have had a total of 4 major back surgeries..
3, were from 2014 to 2017 alone...the first was way back in the spring of 2000
i can walk, not a whole lot. i cannot lift heavy objects, my range bag at like about 20-25 pounds is my limit.
i get dizzy walking up or going down stairs. i cannot climb a ladder to make repairs on or in my home.
my doctor says that under the rules of handicapped parking permits..??
i do not qualify.....!!
i do not even qualify for a reduced bus pass...!!
even though mind you...i was put on disability......!!!! and could no longer work.........mandatory retirement.......

Certification is done by state but recognized nationally when traveling.
When I lived in Kentucky and older gentleman moved in with his two German Shepherds and told apartment managers they were service dogs, that was a lie, he lived in the same building I did and one of the dogs lunged at me twice.
Trained service dogs don’t do that.
The owner was older and could barely control them. With young children and other dogs in complex It was a disaster just waiting to happen.
I complained to management and they did nothing. He also didn’t pick up after his dogs, the grass around the building was littered with piles of dog
it was disgusting. I’m so glad I moved out.

My buddy is a security guard at the Arch ( Jefferson Memorial Expansion National Park). They get all kinds of dumbasses in there. People trying to get in with weed, guns and emotional support animals. They allow legitimate service animals but, and I don’t recall specifically, only a couple different types of animal, one being a dog, and only for a couple disabilities, one being blindness.
They are federal officers and it is a federal facility so I’m sure they’re in compliance with the law.

THIS! RIGHT HERE! Thats the problem, or one of many. Too many people pushing the envelope. Remember a few years ago with the clown complaining that he wasn't allowed to have his "emotional support wasps nest?

Thanks for the reply's. So many folks have misused "service animal" it sure has caused problems. Airlines are getting difficult about it. Legal documentation is not required and the only questions that can be asked are"Is the dog needed due to disability and what task does it perform?" It would help everyone if a vest,etc. was on the animal but anyone can get one. Read about Uber lawsuit refusing a dog in the vehicle. Also multiple law suits listed on ADA site. Would be great if everyone would call their P.D. and ask if a Service Dog is allowed during questioning. Some folks have a service dog to pull their w/chair, what about in jail or prison? I LOVE the comment re handicapped tag needing Doc. letter. I wonder how a dog would react to a gunshot sound? Side note - I am searching for a young or adult Shiloh Shepherd for a Counterbalance service dog for my son, rare breed. Please let me know if you know about one. Looking forward to P.D. info you all get. You are all a blessing I look forward to every day.

I called my P.D. again and asked about a Service Dog being allowed re questioning,etc. and was told to "Call and ask a Lawyer" no info given and my AOR lawyer said NO to the question.

all i can find is...
advocate on record.....and it applies to the country of India court system

Attorney's On Retainer is my self defense attorney group. USCCA, Law Shield etc. are owned by insurance company's and a bean counter at the insurance company decides if you get coverage or not after an incident. TONS of exclusions-look on U TUBE, A.O.R. is actual Criminal Defense attorney's you call and directly get in an emergency, no exclusions, I could go on & on but look then up.It's great to call directly and ask something. Coverage for Felony,Misdemener,bonding,scene clean up,etc. $35 monthly. They just did a review of a taco restarant shooting in Tx. interesting. 9 shots in the perps back and he walked free.Houston, Taqoeria restarant.

The laws an idiot. It doesn’t matter to me about the why with the police department that’s your business but I would call them and say it’s me and my certified service dog or we meet somewhere else and don’t take no for an answer.
