I said it before… I’m a sucker for vintage Winchester 22’s. I recently acquired a Model 72, tube fed, bolt action. It’s an early model somewhere between 1938-42. It is in pretty good shape for an 83+ year old rifle and all original from what i can tell. Only thing missing is the front sight hood. Shoots pretty darn good too. Target is a 10 rd group at 20 yards shooting off a bag (20 is the max my eyes can do with irons). Below are some pics.
If the squirrels and rabbits ever rise up you can all rest easy… i got it covered.

Very nice! You gotta love old-school American blued steel and walnut.

I have your model 72's magazine-fed cousin, an old 69A. Here's what it looked like when I bought it:

I didn't care much for the ancient 3/4" scope, so I found a suitable mount and put a modern 1" 2X-7X AO scope on it, and replaced the front sight with a more modern ramp. It's an outstanding shooter and one of my favorites. I don't think anything comparable is made in this country today, at least not at an affordable price point.

I too have a 69a. It sports a vintage Weaver B4 scope. I partially split a playing card at 40 yds with this. Very accurate little rifle.

Those are nice. I used a Win 69 for a short time then a Win 72A for a longer time. Next came a 10/22 that got traded off and finally; the last .22 rifle I had was a Kimber of Oregon S-Series supergrade. That one got too valuable to shoot and went to a collector. My present .22 rimfires are a 1952 vintage K-22 Masterpiece and a 1973 Vintage model 41.

Oh, that 41 is a beauty. I have Ruger mark I, Target from ‘81. Decent shooter.

Sounds a little squirrelly 😵‍💫😵‍💫 Nice rifle!
 
Love my 70's Marlin 39A, and a Marlin bolt action tube-fed.

Plus a have a brace of CZ452/453s.

Awhile back I got into building custom 10/22s in various configurations, and just rebuilt one I wasn't happy with.
