My Cheap Gun Addiction Strikes Again

Yes, and no. I was looking for a Cc pistol but really not honed in on anything. Until that point through the "terrible" Y2K, which working in DP I was not worried about. Every single company basically in the world had spent up to the better part of the past two years fixing computer programs and data storage.

Anyways, until that point I had only carried revolvers, and I was looking for a pistol. So after Y2k I went to one of the Y2K blowout garage sales where people were trying to recoup some of the money from panic buying. There I came across a very nice east german Makarov and an EAA Witness compact .45 acp. I was able to pick up them both with 6 mags apiece, a holster each, and several hundred rounds of ammunition for a couple hundred bucks.

So a cheap purchase, the Mak, was carried for darn near 20 years.

I was doing pretty well on passing-up deals for the past few months. I was able to almost completely ignore any number of Turkish clones and discount Taurus products. Unfortunately, I couldn't pass up the Beretta APX A1 Carry for $199 after rebate. Beretta is one of my favorite manufacturers, and I've never owned a Beretta product that I didn't like.

I'm assuming that the APX A1 Carry is one of their less popular models, or they wouldn't be offering a $100 Rebate. I've been very impressed with my full-size APX A1, so I figured I'd take a chance on the pocket version. Anyone else here ever pick up a gun, that wasn't even on their radar, just because of the price?

Not many people have the addiction to cheap the way I do. Some of my "bargains."
