My first 1911

I have not handled or shot a 1911 in over 40 years, and now I am going to own one.
It's new in the box, never fired and I understand that all parts are barstock or forged.

I hope my Glock pistols don't go on strike.
Congrats on the new 1911.

I miss one. My favorite 1911s I used to own and enjoyed a lot, were:
- Sig Sauer 1911 Revolution. (I'd owned several Sig P220's and I decided to try Sig's version of a 1911 and I was not disappointed...:))
- Para Ordinance double stack in 45 acp. (Smooth, well designed, and accurate.)
- Para Ordinance LDA that was Commander size(4.25 inch barrel). (That handgun was different. I remember talking to a person who thought he knew firearms and he said, "There's no such thing as a double action only 1911.". I told him I had one and he said if I did he'd give me $100. His draw dropped when I got the LDA out. I didn't take his $100. I figured watching him eat a little humble pie was worth it...:))

Congratulations, 1911 pistols are what every Glock strives to be... :giggle:

Seriously, of all the Glocks I have owned and still own since my first one in 1996, I never had any issues with not one, now on a 1911, I won’t go there, and I owned various 1911’s and still do, first one I got was when I turned 21, they have come a long way with reliability.

I don't even know how many 1911s I own. I quit counting at a dozen, so it's somewhere (a few) on the high side of that.

Only one of them came to me as a complete gun (a used LW Commander). The rest I've built from scratch on bare frames, or restored from welded-up, inoperative junk.

Was it a birthday present from JMB? “Happy Birthday Anni, it’s my new invention. I hope you like it, I call it the 1911.”

Even the seller warned me not to make this mistake.
Yup, made it myself on one of my 1911s. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I may order from the website linked below to prevent future possibilities (although I’m told thin plastic cards, etc will work as well). It’s a cheap safeguard until I get use to 1911 disassembly/reassembly by repetition.
