My first 1911

WOW! A Norinco! They quit importing those years ago. Rough as a cob, but they work just fine. ;)
Back in the day, they were dirt cheap. Many were bought as a base for some really nice custom guns. I have one, but chose to leave it stock. You really don't find many factory originals anymore. You did good!
Many gunsmiths didn't like working on them because the steel was so hard. It'd eat up a mill bit in no time at all. I can't say if its true, but the rumor always was that they were made from recycled railroad track.

One of them i shot was a funny story, the ole boy bought it packed in cosmoline, now i don't know id they used to come like that or not. but he was going to shoot it like that.

He handed to me to look at and you could see all that sticky stuff in it and it was all over my hands. being the smartass i am, i ask him what the heck is all this? you wipe yer butt with this thing? He said it was grease. i said you put that on there, no it came that way. i said dude, you gotta clean that crap off and get it out of the barrell, it's probably full of it.

So we took it back and cleaned it up and put some gun oil on it and took it back out and it functioned perfect. He did get me back by asking what the heck we clean grease out and put more back in to shoot it for? lol

I only paid what I would normally pay for a used Glock, so it's all good.

WOW, haven't seen one of those in years, they were good pistols, and yes, forged slide and frame and either bar stock or forged or machined internals, if I remember right Bill Wilson use to use the base pistol for some of his builds back then, good catch, enjoy and congrats!

The first picture I posted was taken by the seller...
Here is a picture that I took this evening.

The seller bought it cheap at a gun show many years ago and never did anything with it.
The first thing I will do is strip it down, clean and oil it - then I will get reacquainted with the 1911.
