Custom
National Medal of Honor Day was established by Congress to “foster public appreciation and recognition of Medal of Honor Recipients.” The first National Medal of Honor Day was celebrated on March 25, 1991. March 25th was chosen because it was on that date in 1863 that the first Medals of Honor were presented to six members of Andrews’ Raiders.

See the recipients and read their stories- Many have video of the presentation.

I met this one at the NRA convention a few years ago-

If you ever visit Indianapolis, check out the Medal of Honor Memorial

I like Jeff Cooper's idea that living MoH recipients shouldn't have to pay income tax for the remainder of their lives.
Maybe in the current administration that has a chance?
I mentioned this to some friends that day, and got my bubble burst. All we would need is the right administration and Congress, and all their buddies would get MoHs while the deserving got passed over.

I had to admit they had a point. Attach some monetary value to something, and the process suddenly gets altered.
