Need to class this joint up.

With my budget it's disposable razors.

I'm not as high falutin as you guys.
Not all good razor cost as much as a good 1911.
You can get a good starter razor and blades for less than $50

Yep. Parker, Merkur, Edwin Jagger, Van Der Hagan. Lots of inexpensive safety razors around these days. Most of them are zymec ( pot metal), which has zero effect on performance and makes it possible to enjoy nice shaves with modern safety razors at an affordable price point.

I own no zymec razors. All mine are either vintage Gillettes ( I have a lot of those) or nice Stainless Steel or Titanium modern razors. Timeless, Razorock Wunderbar, Wolfman, etc..

Of those the only one that approaches the cost of a good 1911 is the Wolfman which if you can wait a couple years on a list you can pick up for about 5 bills. I bought one new for $350 several years ago, used it a few times ( performance wise it was nothing special, aesthetically it was gorgeous) and then sold it for $700 a couple years later.

For those who wear beards, do you trim the edges, length, or go caveman?

My coworkers have various types of beards, including barbershop (e.g., trimmed and shaven neck), caveman (e.g., au natural), boy band (e.g., short stubble), King Nebuchadnezzar (e.g., long and trimmed). Note. Those are my nicknames for the beard styles.

Not sure after all that 🤦‍♂️😂 but I like to keep a shaved clean face with trimmed clean edges around the goatee I’m working on to grow out fuller. 😎🤠

You are talking about that tall AT&T building that sits up on Jefferson & Chestnut? I put the current natural gas service in that building about 3 years ago. I also dug ( as in with a backhoe) over the top of the intercontinental, government fiber optic line that comes out of that building and runs down Jefferson and eventually under the Atlantic over to Europe. In some places that line is less than 2' under the pavement. When I was digging over it I had the FBI guys, several AT&T guys and about 15 of my bosses there watching me. I made a joke when I found it. I said something like " Hey, these people can do without cable for a few hours, I'm gonna rip this thing out of my way". They were not amused. Particularly the FBI guys.

That's the one!

For me, the object of a beard is so that I don't have to shave. When I get a haircut (about once a month) I get my beard trimmed just long enough that it is still soft to the touch. You see, it's not a beard, it's thigh ticklers.

So I am not a cretin because I do shave like my grandfather. I use a classic safety razor produced by Muhle. I think it is a German producer of razors and shaving brushes. I tried an electrical shaver, standard Gillette-like shavers. Then one day, I thought to try the old type of shaver like I had seen my older relatives and grandpa used when I was a child. I checked on Youtube, and there are good videos about it. Then I bought the shaver I mentioned from amazon. I tried it, and I found out that it is the best type of shaving I have ever tried. I also use a back shaver from Bakblade. The easiest way to shave your back, in case you are a person like me with a lot of hair on the back.
If you decide to dive in deeper and either go actual vintage ( like your grand dad) or high quality modern ( Muhle is ok, but it really is true you get what you pay for) I have a large collection of Gillette safety razors from as far back as 1931 and would be happy to give you advice on razors you should try depending on what type of shave you need/want. I also have a handful of very high quality modern stainless steel that are miles smoother and more efficient than the razor you are using now. Timeless .95 cost me $200 but it is the smoothest, most forgiving aggressive razor I have ever used. And the RazoRock Wunderbar ( $130 ) is a slant that will mow down a week's worth of hair like wasn't even there. And as long as your angle is right and your pressure is light you won't even have to bleed for it. ;)

Williams Shaving Soap is the best. I just wet my face, lather with my hands like I’m washing my hands and spread it on. Amazon sells it.
Gillette Fusion Proglide.

I used Braun electric foil razors for yrs, and then just about a yr ago I was out of town for a week, and had forgot my Braun at home. I picked-up the Philips-Norelco One Blade at Walmart, and haven't used anything else since. Also great for lining around moustache/goatee. Rechargeable battery-operated, and a blade lasts about 4 mos. A replacement pack of 2 blades runs around $24, but you get 4 mos per blade.
