Today was the day. Old Carrier unit removed and new York AC and heater installed. By the time they finished it was 115 degrees out back and 84 inside the house. Unit is very quiet and so far it's cooling down the house to 72 degrees. It was sure worth the money and I might just save some money with the new unit. Feels good to have a cool house again.

I feel your pain brother. Just had a new unit installed in our house a few weeks ago. Sure doesn’t do the wallet a lot of good…

"we" are still lucky as of today..

there are some on Pennsylvania Ave, that would rather we go green, and have chipmunks running a wheel, that has fans attached.

but then, the people at PETA and the ASPCA, will stop that real quick too.

put your order in now guys and gals...

I get a new unit installed Monday.....16 days after my unit died. Thankful for temp units that have helped us to get by but am ready for an entirely cool house....not just a couple of rooms.

The house has been as high as 86....Temps here in Alabama have topped 95 for the past two weeks....timing is everything, right?

my sister-in-law's a/c unit failed about 3 weeks ago. it has been in the mid-90's with high humidity, so she has been sleeping at our house... and eating at our house... and working at our house.
but her new hvac unit is being installed as i type this... ahhhhh, order will soon be restored.

in "this old house", we have window a/c units.

duct work was never thought of back in 1860

it would take a full gutting of the entire house, to get ducting for all 3 levels.

that would be extremely costly

of to set up the house with that external a/c system with the wall mounted units in the rooms, would also be high costs.

if 1 a/c unit conks out, simply remove from window, toss to curb, buy new unit for like under $200, and maybe get like 5 years (many times more) of window units.

PITA each year to install, then take down, but............

it's what we have dealt with for decades.

all our kids have REAL HVAC units...........

i hate them...........

i'm leaving them outta my Will

Hey, that sounds like a fantastic upgrade! 🌬️ Getting rid of the old Carrier unit and installing a new York AC and heater was a smart move, especially with those scorching temperatures outside. It's great to hear that the new unit is doing its job and cooling down your house to a comfy 72 degrees.

The bonus room project was completed a few months ago. The mini split unit is working perfectly maintaining a pretty consistent 68-70° temperature.
My wife is a happy camper.

here, our gas/electric company was bought out by a PA company...it was only obvious that the prices would spike, so that they could recoup thier purchase.....

they have since put additional price hikes due to "demand"? of the weather..???

so for instance, every summer they jack up the price, lower it for the fal, jack it up for winter, lower it for spring, and so on and so forth

we can indeed thank the current administration for shutting down drilling in the states.

at least, that's how i feel.
Same here! It seems the new efficient heater uses more gas. How can this be?
they "may have" raised the cubic foot? prices....they call it "therms"...here........

Nope. Gas utilities are not allowed to sell you gas for any more than they pay for it. They make no money off the sale of gas. Your bill is 2 part. Usage and maintenance and delivery. They make money off the latter. Per therm price of NG is regulated by our friend capitalism.
