Credit card industry representatives have cleared the way for a new means of tracking firearm and ammunition purchases, a move that supporters say will help flag suspicious sales and reduce gun crime.

Yeah, right. Everyone knows that the typical criminal buys the gun they plan to use in a crime with their Mastercard. How stupid do they think we are?

It’s more like just how stupid do they realize they are. Calculated scheme and another control effort. It’s a fact the criminal element is a cash-only business.
It’s not one bit by any measure to fight violence/crime.

I’m in no hurry when buying, so I’ll gladly cash & carry at the LGS or send a money order or check to the online shop.
Besides, credit card companies make 3% or more on each transaction. We might even find retailers will start passing those savings on to the point of sale purchaser.

Money talks BS walks and the biggest of BS’ers comes from the Woke crowd.

Done with online and cash only in LG Stores. Let’s face it, sign of the times as the government in general is doing everything they can to track what we do, where we go, what we buy and overall who we are. I’m sure not in my lifetime but eventually there will be no cash as everything in a point of sale or denomination transfer will be digital.

so a person, say me, wants to stock up on the different ammo that i use, at great prices.

now, cuz i buy (say) 1,000 rounds of each caliber in (say) a given time period, i'd be a highly regarded suspect of some sort of ill intent..???

regarding what you state, MY state now requires us to present our "Blue Card" to not only continue to buy firearms, but to buy ammo now as well, starting Jan 1st, 2023

the "Blue Card" here is one that earns after taking a "Gun Safety Test", at the LGS, they mail the test into the state, and if you pass, you get an actual "Blue Card" to show you are familiar with gun safety. with out that card...no gun sales, and soon to be no ammo sales. as it is now, those who have lost or just cannot find thier Blue Card..??

have to retake the test, as the state DOES NOT keep records after about 3 weeks, they destroy your testing results.

so, my LGS, has already started asking for the blue card, put your info into thier system, and from that day, you only give your phone number...since the amount of sales this place generates, they started doing this now, to avoid a massive crowd in the store after the due date.

so it has already happened here at least, the "tracking" of what, where, how much, we buy regarding anything gun related.

pic of a "Blue Card", mine in fact...(there is only 1 side to it)

You live in New England what do you expect.

i know, but this shiet can spread soon enough, as far as tracking anyone.

if i recall, people south of us, have to do this as well, like NJ?, maybe MD as well? doesn't the state of IL require a "FOID" card as well to purchase guns/ammo?

eventually, this will spread like the monkeypox....it's inevitable. (my feelings/opinion)

Yes you must have an FOID. Does it keep ammunition and firearms out of Felons hands? I don't know ask Chicago!
exactly, yet we, the ones who are legal to buy, own and carry, must do this.

instead of focusing on making laws tougher on the actual criminals, and extending jail times, many in higher offices seem fit to continually let them off with a slap on the wrist.

Nj requires a FOID for all gun and ammo purchases and an additional permit for each handgun purchases. The card is a lifetime deal and takes about 2-3 months to get and requires state and local background checks and fingerprinting. There is no test required (yet) but they want to mandate a gun safety class.

Almost all of my LGS's offer 2-3% discount for cash or check vs. CC on all gun purchases (and everything they sell). I've only made one gun purchase using a CC. Ammo, however, I buy almost entirely in bulk online. I guess the feds will soon know how much I practice. Can't afford to give up access to range ammo. Local shops have tons of high-dollar JHP's, but cheaper FMJ range ammo is not common at any LGS I go to (10-15 in my region). I'm not paying $1/round++ for 9mm range ammo.

Oh yeah, and only one handgun purchase every 30 days and each handgun permit costs $21.

That ID card system is akin to BlockBuster Video. Worked out well for them, huh? Thinking about it, buy a 12 pack of bottled suds at the grocery store, even the at-age cashier has to call for a manager just to pass the pilsner through the scanner. Some of this is purely liability rather than ’sticking it to you’ but really it all comes down to nonsense - and a bit of “why you id’ing me and not him” too.

Whoa.. I noticed “clipped” corners. That used to be an old drivers license flag for speeders, same as staple holes… until the sensitivity groups whined.
So after 10 purchases do you get a complimentary McKee t-shirt?

If the hurdles are going to continue to be set then when will the gubmint only allow just 10 purchases in a lifetime, or maybe rationing coupons/stamps next ?
RFID chip implants along with the mandatory flu shot?
