New Prodigy 17 Round Mag Issues

I search the forum but like most forum search engines, not much luck.

I just purchased a new Prodigy that came with a 20 round mag and a 17 round mag.

20 rounder runs perfect. Zero issues.

17 round mag will only take 16 rounds and the gun misfeeds about every 3 to 4 round. Is there a know issue with the 17 round mags?

Did you disassemble the mag and reassemble? I had a factory P365 mag with an upside down spring.
 
Some folks reported feeding issues specifically with the 17-rd mags. I forget exactly what the cause was determined to be, but you might find more info in this thread:

Are you using a mag Lila. I would load the mag full using an mag Kyla and let it sit for a couple of days to let the spring compress a bit. If you take it apart checks the edges of the follower for any rough edges and gently sand them down smooth. Also check the inside top of the mag and see if that has any rough edges and gently file the edges smooth. When you fire it you may want to los the mags 1 round short for a while until they wear in.

When you fire it you may want to los the mags 1 round short for a while until they wear I’m one of those that utilize my tools to their maximum designed capabilities but certainly can’t get 17 rounds into the 17 round mag so something is definitely wrong.

I should have time to break it down tomorrow and report back.

I’ve loaded tens of thousands of rounds over my 29 year career of carrying a gun for a living and if the mag could take 17, I would put 17 in. It feels completely bottomed out at 16. Zero budging. It’s an extreme effort to 16 in.

Pull the bottom off the 20 and the 17.
Make sure the spring is situated correctly in the 17 By comparing to the 20.
I had 3 17 round and 3 20 round mags when I had my prodigy.. all fit max capacity.
Out of over 5K round count through that pistol, I think I pulled the mags apart and cleaned them once, but never had an issue with the mags not holding advertised capacity. I did have an issue with one that didn’t lock back, but…it was me, put the spring back in backwards.

Prodigy mags are made by Dura Mag. Used them in my Prodigy and my Staccato P… no issues other than above mentioned self induced..:)
 
The only possible issue I see which would make sense is the 20 round mag and 17 round mag have the same spring. See pic of side by side. If the 20 round spring is longer, then the math adds up.
Too long so it won’t compress enough to allow 17 rounds. Too much upward pressure causing mis feed.
