New RO Target

Recently back into shooting..started 45 years ago with a colt 22 Woodsman that I bought in PX for $55.00..it still shoots pretty good. Added a Ruger Mark4 22mm one year ago and have had the urge for a 9mm so bought a RO Target two weeks ago and so far am having a blast with the new gun. Recommendations for ammo would be appreciated; target shooting at local R&G club mostly.

Well, generally speaking, .22's are pretty readily available most places .......... on the other hand, the 9mm's of any description are almost non-existent for most of us. And finding the particular loads you want is next to impossible. When/if you do find them, the price is way out-a line with what they should be. It will become pretty apparent when you start shopping for them. Although from your post it would appear you're finding enough to keep you happy. That's a good thing.

Typically, FMJ's (sometimes WC's or SWC's) are used on the range for target shooting. Bullet weight and sometimes even the 'brand' will largely be determined by what your new gun likes. Try as many different ones as you can, keep good records, and you'll begin to see which loads the gun prefers.

And congrats on the new RO.

22mm 🤯 where did you find that 😉

22 MM might be interesting but would be a bear to carry. 😉
Well, considering the 20mm Lahti comes with skids/skis...

shot some Federal American Eagle 147 grain “blunt nose “ ammo this morning ...had a problem chambering 2-3 rounds whereas the “round “ nose ammo chambered without a problem .

Hi @gordon, and welcome to the forum. I came across this article from "Pew Pew tactical" on 9mm Ammunition recommendations for both Defensive (carry), and target shooting. As some have mentioned, each gun has its own characteristics on what ammunition will fire without any problems, so what's on this list may or may not work for yours. Case in point, CCI Blazer Brass is on their list for target ammo, and it's worked well in all my 9mm handguns (others posters on here not as well), that I've used so far EXCEPT my Walther CCP M2 9mm. I did some internet searches and found that this was common with this firearm and ammo combination (in fact a poster provided a good and bad list of different ammo that worked/didn't work with this gun).
So this article's list is a start, and, if you can find any around for a price you want to pay, you should try them and see if they work in your gun. If you are considering carrying this gun for protection, you should also then try the defensive ammo listed, to make sure that ammo works with your gun (your life may depend on it if you do end up carrying it). It's more expensive than target ammo, but you'll need to fire several boxes to ensure it works in your gun, as all guns could be different (even the same model guns), when firing ammunition without problems. In this article, they also linked to more information (Lucky Gunner is linked and they do a good job with their testing), so take a look at those at well. Good luck with your search and happy shooting.

My bad ... I did mean 22lr
Yeah, I knew you meant 22lr, we (other posters), were just kidding.
I also like my 2 Mark 4"s (I got the Target and Competition models). Very easy to take down compared to previous models. Although, I bought them so early (like most my guns), that I got caught up in the "gun can fire while flipping on safety Without pulling the trigger" recall. Ruger was great about it, paid for shipping to and back, turn around was just a few days with the fix incorporated, and they gave a free mag for each gun.

Here’s a comparison, I got 500 rounds of 5.56 from BULKAMMO.Com for .64 a round, Maxim Defense has it for 1.40 a round. MD .300BO 1.70 a round.
