New Springfield Armory Echelon Pistol

Just seen where my LGS has one for sale on their fakebook page. they just got in. had a pic of it too. if'n i get the time i may go hold it tomorrow, sheesh i hope it feels really bad, i fon't need to bring it home. :ROFLMAO:
Hold your Hi-Point for 5 min and take a few laps in the Buick.

The Echelon will feel amazing !!!

(Well, actually almost anything willπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜)

I was just like … hmmm.. well.. ahhh .. meh .
Stiff competition in the segment
If you are an XD fan, then its for you. I think it boils down to fan base. SA fans will buy it, Sig fans will buy their Sigs and FN fans will buy their FN’s.
I think this gun, and a Sig 320 line are similar. Nothing here to sway me to it .
I’ll stay with my metal SA 1911’s, M1a and the Saints thank you
And Glock will always be worshipped as the guns of the gods!!!!!

I watched that video earlier. Very good review. I like him for his honest appraisals.

Looking forward to seeing the next phase of his testing while he completes the next 800 rounds or so leading up to his 1000 round review.

The only thing I ever question is his shooting the test firearms at 100 yards. While being able to hit a steel target at that distance does reflect to the accuracy of the firearm somewhat, it seems to me that it's more a test of his shooting skills rather than the firearm.

The gatman also did a test of the Echelon. After putting 1000+ rounds through the Echelon in a single day he gave it a glowing review and had ZERO hiccups. While the Echelon has been getting a lot of positive reviews, some youtubers give EVERYTHING they test a positive review. These two reviews will tell it like it is and I feel are more believable.

I also like James Reeves a lot. Very entertaining. Also doesn’t have any issue with the Echelon although he is skeptical about the one-size-fits-all mounting system.

I hope that the VIS system works as well as it is advertised. To me that is a huge advantage over many other manufacturers, and I would suspect many will follow SA's example and incorporate a similar system.

Being able to direct mount a red dot and not having to hunt for and purchase an optic plate to fit your particular brand red dot is also a great feature. Direct mounting is the way to go when possible, but this system should allow you to even switch brands/footprints of different red dots whenever you choose. Much better than having a slide specifically milled for a particular slide IMO.

Another review. with more detail.

Note: When I checked one out the other day the sales guy & myself were wondering what the different grip modules did and here's the answer.

For the Echelon, small, medium, and large grip modules will be available that change the trigger reach progressively. The large grip module will also feature a bit of additional width as well.

Ok so off I went to Range USA this morning in Middletown Kentucky to check out the Echelon, there was maybe 25 people in line at the store opening and only about 10 were there for the Rollout and free shoot. I signed up for the Giveaway and then ended up talking to the store manager, he let me check out the gun. I will say it felt good in my hand and gave me the impression it was designed to be very thin and light. It was a very good looking gun.
I was honest with the store manager that I wasn’t interested in shooting the gun and just wanted a hat which he gave me, we also started talking about guns in general and when I told him I was in firearms manufacturing for 20 years he offered me a job. πŸ˜‚

Went to the Shooter's World in Orlando, Fl for the reveal. They had a pretty good turnout probably around 150/200 ish. We didn't make the first 50, but we did spend some time talking to the reps (Michael & Don) they were very informative and super helpful. We did get a chance to shoot it, my opinion... super comfortable to hold, super manageable recoil, the u shaped sights work well for me, overall a great shooting gun.
I'm fairly new to shooting pistols, hubby has been a "gun guy" forever, but he just got me into it. To me a newbie, this was the most comfortable 9mm I've shot.

So when this was first released I commented wow another Glock. Well I had a training class this morning and it was a half day so I wandered into one of my local gun stores and low and behold he showed me one of these. So needless to say I have to open an investigation because somehow (I still can't explain it) the paperwork ended up in my hands and she came home with me. Hopefully I'll get her out to the range soon and I'll report back what the good and the bad is...

Congrats WP (y), I have the 5" model on order at the LGS whenever SA gets around to shipping them to distributes here in my Pa. neck of the woods.

So here's my report and these are just my observations. 350 rounds earlier this morning and no issues, no malfunctions. Trigger is better than a stock Glock, I'd compare it to my S&W Performance Center Shield Plus. U-notch sights are great, easy slide manipulations with the deep groove cuts. Magazine release and slide stop are really good and I really like the textured purchase areas, really get a good grip on it. Recoil is very easily manageable so follow up shots are not an issue. This though being a full sized weapon I would think concealed carry would be an issue. Break down is easy however, since I'm carrying a Glock for a little over 30 years now, removal of the inside fire control component is tricky to say the least but I'm sure as I use and clean it more it'll become easy over time. I really think Springfield did a really nice job with this offering but mine is a keeper. Just my two cents....

I don't think you need to remove the COG every time your shoot and clean your gun, on my Sigs I just do it every so often, removal is not needed for routine cleaning, just my opinion, glad it worked for you
