If SA announces the VHS rifle that wil be disappointing since they could have resurrected a MSAR E4/TPD AXR AUG-type rifle.

Isn't the MSAR property of Micro Tech? They aren't in business anymore but I'm sure someone from Micro Tech retained the patents.

MicroTech is still making knives & as we know got out of the MSAR business. TPD is also out of business. TPDs' AUG was closest to a Steyr, and if someone contacted either they probably could pick up any existing useful patents based on what TPD and MicroTech developed compared to the original Steyr patents, now expired.

Otherwise they could just re-engineer it. The AUg design isn't super complicated with tricky issues like the BHP.

I don't think SA paid FN anything when they re-engineered the SA-35, and that BHP patents are long expired.
