My only concern is it leaves the hard finish coating, wonder if it gums up over repeated uses...

Yeah I read that. Wonder how that would play out on say, a BCG or if it accidentally got in striker/firing pin channel. Get some and do a review .

Right, or if you missed something while cleaning. Does it harden over the dirt\carbon?

I have used Strikehold for years and never had any problems. I shoot a lot of sporting clays with an inertia fed shotgun and have tried a couple of other CLP's, but they did gum up and this one does not. No excessive wear either. Just mu .02. Cheers!
