Greetings ... As a Newbie, like really New, as of today. Please advise me if I cross any lines.
A fellow shooter said to me, if you have Springfield question, go to a Springfield Forum site. So here I am.

A couple of weeks ago at a local gun show, I was searching for a Springfield M1A National Match in 308.
One of the table holders/seller, who had 2 M1A's, told me, Springfield Armory has not made any Nation Match Rifles
in 2 years. I was dumb founded. This seller, had 2 Springfield M1A's rifles. Neither one were NM.
I have made a couple of calls since then to gun shops in my area. Nobody had any knowledge of this. One call was to
Springfield. Six days ago I am still waiting for a call back.

This truly can not be true.

Any Comments ?

Welcome to the forum @JuaOneJay, all questions are welcomed here. I personally have not heard that about the SA M1a NM, I own one, but it was purchased more than 2 years ago (if my memory serves me correctly). The National Match is still listed on SA’s website. If they stopped producing them two years ago, one would think it would have been removed. I’m sure others on here will add to the discussion as well, but until I hear otherwise, I still think SA is producing them. They may be hard to find available at this current time, (from a quick search I did of them for sale). One site had several listed with “notify me when available”.

Welcome to the forum from Kentucky.
As mentioned by @BET7 the M1A National Match is still on the website so it’s a good bet they are still in production however most likely in limited production.
Keep calling Springfield at there customer service number.
(800) 680-6866

Perhaps it has been victim to Covid 19. Many companies have had to temporarily suspended certain products due to labor and component shortages.

I suspect since you mention a 2 year window this may be the case. More than likely they will become available when things get back to some semblance of normal.

Welcome to the Forum Jay! - Happy Holidays!
On your question? A Springfield M1A National Match in 308? Last looked was still in online catalogue in offering for sale a few days ago.

So? 'Tis the season of many things? Some of supposed rarity may be due to the seasons? One, it's covid season, many things have changed materials supply and labor shortages can be hit and miss. Another, it's the Holiday season, many people are doing what they can to celebrate, so not everyone's working nonstop.. And yet another, is the seller likely was trying to push a sale by stating a possible rarity? ("The get it while you can theory.") - The latter is almost always in season? Is a good thing is you're following up on your desires by checking further into possible facts before tossing them aside. - Best of luck on your hunt.

They are scarce but I just bought one a few months ago with a choice between .308 anf 6.5 Creedmoor, so I think they are still making them. My local gun shop had about 20 of them on the rack last year, now they are telling me they are 6 months to a year out. I also just recently tried to order a 1911 TRP Operator and was told 6 month to a year for delivery.

Thank You All for your input.
It's pretty crazy, not only SA M1A Rifles, it is all kinds of guns and parts. Just Out Of Stock !
If I was the maker of widgets and they were out of stock, I would be making them 24/7 !
I just checked with the Gun Shop where I have my order and still no news.

Thanks Again !

O K ... This afternoon I looked at the Springfield Armory website.
There are NO Information, pictures or Specs for the M1A National Match or Super Match Rifles.
I can only guess the end has come.
However, like SSmith said, "Check Gunbroker". I am on it.

Indeed you are correct. The National and Super Match series have been removed from the website. Hold on to em if ya got em. Try and buy em asap if you wanted one. People might not know just yet. Damn that sucks.

Although disappointing it is most likely due to Springfield A. Getting ready to introduce something new. Models come and go, I have no doubt the M1A in multiple configurations will live on.
In “A”…looks like Springfield chopped a bunch of models; the 911 and the XDE are no longer in their website.

If the OP wants a NM M1A…looks like the Walnut Loaded ticks off most of the boxes, so you’d have one in all but name.

As I said; models come and go in every manufacturing environment.
Nothing is for sure except for change.

I had my Super Match on order for about six months when Springfield cancelled the order at the end of December 2021. Springfield could have been nice and just finished building their backorders before they quit production of the match rifles. NOT HAPPY!

There’s two on Gunbroker.

I opted for and got a Loaded. I'll see how it shoots when this Minnesota winter goes away. I'd be nervous buying a used Super Match. Never know if it needs a rebed or might have a shot out barrel. Who knows, I might be able to get Springfield to bed my Loaded. I have a national match hooded sight for it. I put a Sadlak spring guide in it. I'm on my way to a backdoor National Match.

Unless you're a high-end competitive shooter in CMP matches a Super Match is a bit overkill for general use.

Also, they are tuned for this type of shooting and can be finicky when it comes to loads that an individual rifle likes, and the bedding can wear out with alot of shooting, so serious competitive shooters rebuild the bedding after each season.

A National Match is a higher-grade than the basic and without the idiosyncrasies that the Super Match has.

My .02.
