Norma ammo - where made

I just bought some Norma 9mm 124 Grain hardball (Range and Training ammo).
I expected to find it was made in Hungary (GECO) and I expected 1181 FPS and FMJ listed on the box. Instead; is lists 1200 FPS and Totally metal jacketed and the box says assembled in USA with US and foreign components.

I am not concerned with the 19 fps difference, likely the plated jacket is thinner? but I was wondering if the assembled in USA with US and foreign components means this ammo is from their new plant in Georgia?

i don't know.

i'd be willing to bet, if you email them and ask, they might tell you?

many times i have emailed one company or another about thier products. and i mean any and all products, not just gun/ammo related.

when they get snail mail or emails, they know that people are wanting more information, and thus leads to sales when they help you with your questions.
 
Hard to believe container ships arriving stocked with tons of foreign ammo so fresh you can smell the ocean. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of foreign ammo is manufactured here just for the sake of logistics and tariffs, time abroad and labor strife. I think the other way around if US brands were made overseas, specs and quality might be suspect too.

Does Heinz 57 bottle off-brand ketchup (catsup) to satisfy the lower-priced store brand consumer?
Bet they do.
 
All I know is I've never had a Norma round issue in any caliber (limited to 5.56, 9mm, .380 & .308). It's been at the top for any brand I buy. Even my Hellion cycles Norma 5.56 well (it doesn't like many brands).

and yeah, all supermarkets have thier house brand, of just about every condomient...

true story i told before.....a cigarette "recall" was done years ago, i worked for the trucking company that took them up north.

they got shipped back to the manufacturer.

the went to the building "in the back" of a major cig making company....

they were shipped back out, in containers.......overseas, after being "reworked", as it was the filter material that was bad....

that "back building" was were "generic cigs" were and possibly still made to this day


 
From what I can find; RUAG - the former owner of the Norma name also owned GECO and other ammo companies. Their NORMA ammo was made in Hungary, (GECO facility) Germany and Switzerland with most here in the states being made by GECO and this was the commonly found 1181 FPS 9mm 124 gr FMJ load. Beretta bought them out and built a ammo facility in Savanna Georgia. Norma 9mm and probably other calibers are being loaded there using both US and foreign components, This latest Norma 9mm 124 Gr TMJ (Total metal jacket) is the loaded here 1200 fps load.
I believe very little NORMA ammo is the old Swedish Norma ammo any longer. That said the consensus is that it's darn good stuff.

Nice detective work @Scevaph

I like norma ammo, have had all of their 9mm, 223 and 308 products. Only one I had issues with is one batch of 223 frangible, everything else work well. Even had a $8/box of MHP at Palmetto last year, great defensive ammo for a quarter of the price...
