Not a fan of Twitter or Musk

I don't have any social media accounts any more (and I was never on Twitter to begin with). I could care less whether Twitter succeeds or fails. But I also don't trust Musk at all, and think it's pretty laughable that people think he's going to be a bastion of free speech, if you know anything about the guy's background (and his investments). I'll be happily sitting back and eating popcorn while the $#1+show unravels...

I don’t do Twatter but I am very happy Musk took it over. I like that guy. First thing he did was fire everyone. Then lifted the lifetime bans.
I don’t twit either.
Musk did terminate 4 at the top, I believe.
The lifetime bans are not entirely clear. From my understanding Twitter was said to have lifted Kanye West ban just before Musk took over, but the account has not actually been reinstated. I don’t care about KW’s reinstatement . However, I do hope he reinstates Trump’s account just to watch liberals throw the Mt Vesuvius of tantrums.

This forum is the extent of my social media presence. Deleted facebook years ago. Never got onto twitter, instagram or snapchat.
Not a huge fan of musk but i do like his “think big” approach to things. If it stirs the pot a bit then i’m all for it.

Elon is not conservative, he is not leftist...he is a classic liberal (which is rare). His effect on Twatter has yet to be determined. I commend his "intent" to restore free speech, but I fear the forces of woke leftism on media in general may prove a more difficult path for him to navigate.

I fear his massive investments in places like China and other locations around the globe that aren't exactly champions of free speech might present conflicts of interest, far more so than the "woke leftists" that I think he's already demonstrated he's pretty good at ignoring.

What's going to happen, for example, when representatives of the PRC contact him and say, "You better put a stop to those anti-China tweets, or we are cancelling your lithium contracts?

Never did subscribe to facebook/twiters/etc. didn’t think of it as something for adults. All that cyber bullying in the early days really created the mess of the www. With some of the content that’s allowed in music or in any of “the arts” is no wonder why the world is in the state it’s in.

Musk and DJT are competitive ball busters.
There should be some level of censoring content when it pertains to violence. MeanTweets and opinions on ‘stuff that needs to be looked at‘ shouldn't be the factor to get locked out by vindictive partisan executives and politicians implying retribution.

I expect Musk Inc. is already prepared for the onslaught of gubmint oversight - should there be any leveling of the playing field going forward when it comes to questionable content.

I think not only the Hollywooding elite wondering about their social media trash talk status being flagged/blocked/banned, but the WH office of disinformation is too (e.g. lying about the economy, no laptop, lungs being blow out).

This didn’t take long. Already happening are fake actors picketing around Twit Inc dressed up as employees that were laidoff by The Musk. It might not be a good time for Tesla owners if the unhinged go on a tantrum against the brand.

As for K-W, they’re going worldwide with this ultra mega cancellation and his brand. In Chicago (yes, his home town) they painted over his image on a mural, no, not by vandals but the artíst creator of the mural on behalf of the owner of the building. Somehow the protest is focused only on KW...for speaking his mind. But I can think of a pair of elected pols having done the same, even references made by even higher up pols comparing their opponents to a despised dictator without a single rebuff from the social media-verse.

Someone knows something, the The Big Guy promoting TicTox yet ? He certainly will be trying to get that Section 230 rammed through now, just to put a financial end to The Twitters.

With all the attention on Musk's acquisition of Twitter recently, there is another noteworthy development that has seen less attention. As a result of the shakeup in ownership, the second largest investor in Twitter (to the tune of $1.89 billion) is now the "Kingdom Holding Company" of Saudi Arabia, along with Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

This is the very same government/country that planted spies as employees at Twitter several years ago, in order to access information on Saudi dissidents and track them down.

Still feeling optimistic about a new era of "free speech?"

Did you know there are only about 3 companies making Text books for the US and the biggest one is a Saudi company ?

Did you know China is the biggest pork producer in the US ?

Kinda hard to get worked up about who owns the most shares of Twitter. Besides, Twitter is now owned by Musk. As of November 8th there will be no more "Shares" of Twitter.

Well aware, yes. Does that make the fact less relevant?

I don't recall saying anything about "shares?"

“Second largest investor”.

You do understand that specific statistic is no longer true? Or won’t be after November 8th. Elon Musk OWNS Twitter. By definition he is the only investor.
