to add to Cedric's point here are 3 sources to review - https://nypost.com/2013/12/01/book-excerpt-how-america-gave-guns-to-mexican-drug-cartels/Umm...no. In the last two decades or so, most guns were shipped in to supply the cartels and various rebel groups from other countries. Notably, huge stocks of M-16s left in VN were shipped to Latin America to give the communist revolutionaries a "Western" appearance as if we were the ones doing the supplying. The Fast and Furious boondogle, which was designed to influence US public opinion (which you have fallen for) on the imaginary thousands of US weapons flowing to Mexico was in reality very few compared to the bulk shipments from overseas. Additionally, many cartel foot soldiers are made up of Mexican army deserters who brought their PTR-91s with them. The gold plated AKs seen in magazines are collector items for the cartel bosses because M-16s and PTR-91s don't use the same ammo. BTW, the Mexican army is switching to a 5.56mm rifle so why fool with the logistics? Bottomline: thousands of guns from the US is a deception fostered by Obama and continued by the current gov't.
