Hate cell phones. Only reason I have one is because of work (use as a secondary communication tool) and family members with medical issues. Other than that when I retire the first thing going is that.
that's funny, at one job i had, all us drivers had a company cell phone....amazingly, mine was always turned off.
one time, and i mean ONLY one time, the head of the dispatch office called me into his office.
he asked why i did not respond to HIS call..
i said, I think the battery is dead?
he looked at my phone and said, "uh no, you have it off, leave it off again, and you're on suspension"
i left it off, after i left his office, he tried calling me, and when i did not answer?
i got suspended...whoopie, time off........(it was a union job, took way too many warning/suspensions to be rid of me......)
union rep told me, not to mess around, there as only so much he can do...
i tell him....."as a very well seasoned trucker, do you seriously think i cannot find not only another job, but a HIGHER paying job"?
subject was dropped, i was # 2 driver, and drove thru blizzards, hurricanes, and floods..........thru NYC, and the NJTP
or the hills of Fishkill with a set of pups......
no one else did those runs, thru that weather.......all that "next day freight, got there when i drove"
more than a stick of dynamite was going to get rid of me.
