One more coyote attack reported

It's a total miracle you weren't eaten alive!!! But I'll say this ... you must have stones of steel to just sit there like you did and not even run!!! (y)(y):D
So there's a story behind that video. As I mentioned in my post that was at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. When I was working for G4S had to go unlock the front gate at the cemetery every morning.

My stupid coworker who covered my off days was feeding the coyotes in that section of the cemetery. He thought they were foxes.

So when I showed up that coyote obviously thought I was there to feed him. So he ran right up to me to get his handout and when I didn't give him one he bit me.

I mean he didn't even break well really he didn't even make a hole in my pants but he definitely didn't break skin.

So my little can of Sabre Red that G4S gave me and split some on the ground right in front of him. All that happened right after the video ended. He stuck his nose in the puddle and took off. To my knowledge he never approached another human being again.

I took that video several years ago and I'm sure he's dead now

In Memphis there was the famous Mid-Town coyote for a while. Late 90s or early 2000s, I think it was. Mid-town is a large residential neighborhood close to downtown. Houses dating back to the early 1900s. Anyway for several years there was a coyote living somewhere in there. He was seen fairly often. Didn't show much fear of humans, but was very wary. He accounted for a number of missing pets during his stay. People were careful when walking at night. I don't think it ever actually attacked a human, but it sure scared the hell outta a few. It roamed that area for 3-4 years.
Anyway, they finally caught it. They didn't even try relocation, they just put it down.
No matter where they go, Coyotes are a PITA! 🤬

I'm sure the coyotes don't think so.

I am a”winter resident” in the Tucson area. All I hear about is bobcat/coyote/panther/javalina sttacks on dogs and cats. Yes, there is a problem, brought on by the locals who feed these critters, and the wonder why their neighbors have problems with vermin. I am so tired of people saying the critters, read native animals were here first and should be allowed to eat pets! Not gonna happen to me,without me interfering. My property, my pets, my response. Whatever it is, my small dogs go outside, I am with them, and armed.

Sorry about the rant, but am so fed up with those who determined the assorted critters have more rights than I have. Been lectured enough by them. This is a conservative and friendly crowd, otherwise I would not say anything. But, my dogs, minding their own business are not going to be eaten on my watch!

I live in a part of town that has a moderate size lake that is right across the street from a section of unbuilt prairie on the edge of town. At night you can hear the packs howling around the lake. One night I was walking home from meeting some folks at a local pizza & wing joint. Walking up to the apartment building I was living at, around the corner comes a large size 'yote. He kept walking toward me and I didn't change pace. We passed within normal pedestrian distance of each other with neither swerving or missing a step. It was like, "G'day Mate.", "How ya doin?"🧐

You're right up the road from me. Do you ever do IDPA at the Pikes Peak Gun Club?
I was a member at PPGC for several years. It seemed like every time I went there was a new fee.

I was a member right about the time the club Treasurer absconded with 50 K of the clubs money. They upped the fees on everything to make up for the money they lost.

I went once with my church security team and they decided that 30 non members paying 20 bucks apiece for a 4 hour class wasn't enough revenue so they wanted me to pay the non member rate for the same class. I refused.

They arbitrarily raised range fees in the middle of the year and the last straw was when they imposed a 7 dollar "fee" for a target stand only on the pistol range.

I quit and I go to Cactus Flats in Penrose. When we move to the Goat Ranch I'll just go to the back pasture.

Coyotes are in every Continental state and have been for years. Like snakes, coyote bites are mostly caused by people messing with them and secondarily caused by sickness, mostly but not always, rabies.

`Here's a fun fact: All of the coyotes east of the Missippee (and many in the west) are actually wyotes (aka coywolves.) They are mixed. You can tell by looking at their back legs. Wyotes have back legs equal in length to their front legs. Pure coyotes have shorter back legs.
