Cheap NV monoculars. I figure we ought to leave @KillerFord1977 out of this since he has no experience with cheap NV anything.

When I say cheap I mean sub $200. Small, handheld, 100 yard at least. Anyone know of anything decent ?

Not really for defensive use, although basic capacity to see clearly at 100 yards would make it possible for some defensive situations I guess. More for wildlife.

I know I'm not going to get anything great, but I don't want to feel like I threw away $200.

Why not, you are knowing what you are getting and what you are not. Not like you are buying expecting military grade lol.

I had a cheap pair til the nephews kids got ahold of them and decided to play hot potato, they were kind of fun. Can't even remember the brand some cheap thing from a catalog. Found myself wandering around the homestead in the dark just because I could lol.
 
I bought a cheap sight mark a while back, it's made to mount on a rifle. i took it off after trying to use it one night. not very long range and i was told to get a stronger IR illuminator and never did. problem i have with it after you focus on a certain area or distance and you change it any even a little it is so bluury you can't see anything. i would not buy another one of that kind and wish i hadn't bought it. it was more than 200 , about twice that. also the dern thing weighs a ton. after you look through it a while you can't see nothing. i guess your eyes adjust to the brightness and then it seems you are blind in one eye after you stop looking through it.

I use this thermal. Nice quality for $500
I know its double what you requested , but its a great thermal monocular for $495 and will do all you ask. Ive used one for 4 years for a quick hand held spotting scope

Well look at you. The one guy I figured wouldn't have anything to suggest that was realistic for me manages to give me a suggestion I trust on a NV optic that I can afford. You know, as long as I pigtail faster per Hayes' orders. ;) :p

Of course I will try to locate it somewhere other than Optics Planet because, well they're Optics Planet. I'm pretty sure I still have some M855 on backorder from them from 5 years ago that they never managed to come up with. lol

You can find it in a lot of places. I just used that as a link to show the optic and avg price ..
