Pentagon fails 7th audit

I'm a huge fan of government accountability -especially with taxpayer funds. I think switching over to block-chain data for government accounting would be a great advancement. I think one of the biggest advancements that President Trump could make would be pressuring the House of Representatives to go back to line item budgets instead of the "continuing resolutions" they have been doing for 14 (?) years. It's the difference between balancing a checkbook and saying "okay, there's money in the account, I can write checks."

That said, there is quite a bit of the government budget in the intel and military community that would serve as valuable intel for our adversaries who could extrapolate money spent into U.S. military capabilities. Question is where is the sweet spot between accountability and secrecy?

I'd be interested in hearing other people's ideas who 'in the know' or who have studied these questions of accountability vs
I retired from federal service more than 20 years ago. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and when I first went to worth the fiscal “year was 7/1-6/30. The morons in Washington could never get their act together to have a budget on time, so the federal year was changed to 10/1-9/30 to give them another three months to get their s—t together. That actually worked, for ONE year, then it became the same old BS with continuing resolutions, gov’t “shutdowns” and similar horse manure.. Now I don’t know ‘bout y’all, but if I’d ever failed to meet my PRIME job requirement for even one year I’d have been unemployed, but NOT our glorious leaders ( of BOTH parties). They consistently fail to get their job done on time, year after year. And the sad part is that this malfeasance COSTS the taxpayers huge amounts of wasted money each and every year. Contracting? You can’t legally obligate funds that don’t exist, so instead of suing a 12 month contract, you issue multiple ones (for each “continuing resolution”-result MUCH higher costs for both the contracting process AND the contracts themselves. Government shutdown? Great idea-‘crept all the employees who are “sent home” still get paid once it’s over-and oh yea, those who actually remain at work? They get exactly the same pay as usual. If the People actually had a clue how much money this political game playing actually cost THEM as taxpayers they’d be ready to lynch these politicians🙄. The solution is real simple-change back to calendar year. Lock these SOB’s in the Capital from 15 December until they actually do THEIR job. I guarantee we’d have a budget before Christmas because They wouldn’t want to be inconvenienced😏
