Philadelphia Sheriff's Office Loses 210 Guns

Looks like the Sheriff in Philly can't find over 200 guns. Not to worry, only 101 actually belonged to the Sheriff's Office. The rest were Protection From Abuse (PFA) guns. PFA guns are those collected under Pennsylvania's version of a Red Flag Law. You can find a good article at the following site (it's kinda difficult to find on mainstream media sites).

Regardless of if this happens through the "missing" weapons being sold on the streets, or the weapons being planted by corrupt officers, it would still be strong evidence that Red Flag laws are not only ineffective, but that they can lead to increased "gun violence". This incident needs to be mentioned every time any lawmaker or organization starts pushing Red Flag laws. When these organizations argue that seizing lawfully owned property without due process saves lives, we need to point out that in this case it actually lead to a significant increase in both "gun crime" and "gun violence".

While I am not a fan of using vague anti-2A terms like "gun crime", they can be useful when making a point. There is no direct statistical evidence that Red Flag laws have prevented any deaths or suicides. The only even remote evidence of effectiveness comes from Minority Report style assertions that something bad would have happened if action wasn't taken. Due to the the fact that theft of a firearm is most certainly a "gun crime", this incident can be directly linked to at least 100 confirmed "gun crimes". Therefore, we have direct proof that the PFA laws have caused at least 100 gun crimes, while the other side has no direct evidence that the laws prevented even a single incident.

Wow. Hopefully they don’t let that police department investigate themselves in this case: ‘we investigated ourselves and found that we didn’t do anything intentionally unlawful. The investigation is forever closed and shall not be reopened’. Somebody needs to either find the guns or pay the citizens whose guns were ‘lost’. It would be nice if somebody would track the serial numbers... I bet they either turn up on the streets or in officer home safes.

I don’t know that there would ever be statistical evidence that Red Flag laws prevented any deaths. You’d almost have to have the person whose guns were taken admit that they had planned to carry out an attack and would have done it had the guns not been taken. Ain’t nobody gonna do that shyt.
