Phones? landline and cell

So far internet has been fine, but at&t is a no-go!
Funny you should ask.. My att cell service has been sketchy for a week. Half the time people can't hear me. I have talked with tech support, 15 minutes ago, and have a new phone coming but I don't think that is it. My wife's phone is having the same problem, what odds two phones both have mic problems that start at the same time.

But she is currently on the phone with them too over hers. They say nothing is wrong with service...

AT&T internet has had reported problems. Cell service is on for now(5 minutes ago), but normal 4 bars is only 1. Their network, except for tv hasn't been working. AT&T has been nothing but crap since their monolopy!

They must be having spyware update problems!

If have internet and WiFi there are apps at google play-store that enable cell phones equipped with WiFi enabled to use WiFi for phone calls through a cell phone. There are supposedly quite a few different apps for that. Gives new phone number to use phone on WiFi. Used quite a while ago, for a short time. It worked well, but are limited to wherever WiFi is. Not even sure what to call the apps to look them up anymore though. But, was possible. likely still is.

Strangely enough I've had my cellular service with what is now AT&T since the days of the 'bag' phones (around 1993 IIRC) where we carried the big battery around in a shoulder bag and the phone was much like a current house phone receiver at the end of a coiled wire. And, during all that same time, and since the early 70's I think, I've had my land line phone, then sometime later my TV cable and I-net service all from ??? (don't remember the name), then became Time Warner, then Bright House, and now Spectrum.

Funny thing is I've never had any major bad issue with either of them. They both are often trying to get me switch, IE: to convert my TV cable and I-net to AT&T Uverse, or Spectrum is trying to get me to switch my cell service to them. I won't do either one mainly because I've always had a good response from them both. BTW, I've not had a contract with AT&T for many years.

Whenever I'm ready for an upgrade of my cell phone, I simply walk in and buy the one I want, usually at a substantial discount, and have them set it up for me, transfer my old phone's info/data and any other help I need with it, and from then on simply pay a monthly service fee. I've just never found a reason to switch to any other provider.

I've had the same land line provider for something around 50 years, primarily to ensure I would/could maintain the same local phone number due to a personal need. I think the phone service way back then was 'Southern Bell', then 'Bell South', then somewhere along the line it was merged with a TV Cable and I-net service.

Anytime I need an upgrade or have a question about my service with either of them, I tell them to check on how long I've been a loyal customer of their respective service/s .............. and when they look they always find a way to resolve my problem.

In all honesty I may have the names confused about one or the other in a place or two, but in general that's the way it is on this day ...... Saturday, June 26, 2021. (y)(y)(y) Jus' somethin' to ponder y'all !!! :):):)

On samsung there is wifi-calling ability, but doesn't help much when I'm out in the woods or in the middle of no where.

If you had phone service before phone may within reach of WiFI? They used a variety of carriers you can choose too. I used one where Verizon wouldn't work and Sprint did in areas frequently went to for example. So chose a Sprint carrier . Likely good enough for some possible important phone calls while connected to WIFI to people not connected to internet or able to be reached by internet. Quite a few of the phone apps are generally free too.
