I'm not a big fan of drums for certain firearms.

A typical AR drum mags is a bear to load for an average gain of 20 rounds over a standard mag which can be loaded in seconds. You can also strip a 30 round standard AR mag and insert a new one a lot quicker than a drum.

Drums are a cool novelty for semi auto firearms but I think the real incentive to using a drum is when shooting full auto.

well i do that too. lol but you are right about AR drums. Magpuls are a pain in the rear to load. and break pretty easy. i have broken two of them. They have a cheap plastic piece inside that will break. those top ones are 12 gauge drums and they load easy as with the middle which is a 9mm AR pistol and bottom is a GSG16 and it loads easy.

And 30 rnd Magazines are a good safety measure to prevent melting down your full auto AR ;) .....

But seriously, nothing wrong with using a Drum for full auto fire, people just need to realize an AR/M-16/M4 is not designed to be a Machine Gun, it has a cyclic rate limit and it isn't hard to damage it in sustained full auto fire...

Not to go to far off topic, because this case is not appropraite for the OP's ammo drums..

But since we are discussing Gun Cases,
The Pelican Vault Line is their value line of cases with firearms in mind, that is nearly as rugged as their regular cases but much, much cheaper....

I've gotten them on sale for as little as $30, they are $40 at Midwayusa right now....
Comes in Black, Tan and now OD Green (Green, since its new is $44)...
V100 will fit a most pistols up to full sized.... with the magazines... but you have to cut the foam yourself of course...

They have V200 and V300 that are even larger... As well as Rifle sized cases in the Vault line, all much cheaper than the standard Pelican case, and while side by side you say the more expensive standard pelican cases are tougher, you'd agree these are more than tough enough to carry your pistol in...

If you use ID.me and go through their site, to the pelican site, they can be discounted at checkout. Not sure if all discounts are the same for all categories, but Military is 15% (better than AAFEES)
