Pistol Practice with a Purpose

I had never considered the team aspect and including my significant other. I've taught her how to check and safely unload the various firearms in our household. I take her shooting quite often. She caught on pretty quickly. Her role in our current safety plan is to lock up in safety and wait for me to finish the fight should we ever encounter an intruder situation. Now I'm thinking I need to step up the training and perhaps develop a competent partner to help with the fight. Thank you for the article!

Thanks for the link, Mike.

Including your wife or significant other in any plan makes really good sense to me. We have competent women on the site here that I would be pleased to have on my fighting team!

As far as targets, I usually use a bullseye target or one I downloaded from a YouTuber, Stav on “She Equips Herself.” I don’t think Stav would object since her target is free, so I attached it below. It takes a box of shells. Challenging!

All good stuff.

The significant other is something I throw out on classes for folks to just consider.

The consideration is if your other half practices and trains somewhat regularly can she manipulate YOUR gun that YOU carry? If the answer is no than some folks might want to consider a compromise and pick something they can pick up and use with no refresher trainjng, no remembering how to grip it right or take off a thumb safety etc (1911’s come to mind) or can she decock that Sig 226 (I run a 226 sometimes)

Just a like picking the right gun for her to carry that he/she will want to practice with when you travel you might consider a compromise gun if both of you are not carrying.

Why a revolver is somewhat in a great category for that!
