Pizza tip sets off delivery person

i always TIP 20% to the driver.

up here, all pizza places charge a "delivery fee"...but that does not go to the driver, it goes to the store.

the reason for a delivery fee?

to keep the prices of pizza low, as there are dozens of pizza places up here.

on average the driver gets a $5.00 , per pizza.....actually a wee bit more than normal.

only when we are going to have the grand and great grand babies over, do i order more than 1 pizza.

so hopefully, no one goes "postal" on me.

but i also "carry" outside waiting for that delivery

If they want to make more money get a better job.
1. Never take a job where you depend on tips to make a living wage.
2. Never, EVER, take a delivery job that requires you use your own vehicle.

many strippers are college girls, or young mothers, and they get tips too.........and they make a great living at it.

someone told me

i think that has to do with "tort laws"..??

and protecting the company if you are driving thier vehicle.
One: not all drivers have insurance. If they did to get the job, they may not keep it.
Two: vehicles are too expensive to replace more frequently. The cost per mile has to be pretty expensive today considering initial cost, depreciation, insurance, gas, tires, general wear and tear.

I've been retired for 5 years and my last job paid almost $.60/mile.

here, auto insurance is mandatory

my last trucking job, i got paid a salary, which worked out fine, when the boss called off the work night due to extreme weather like snow, icy rain, hurricane force winds, so i still got my regular pay...of course, extra hours meant NO extra pay

i think too, by the pizza places not having thier own delivery vehicles, they are ensured that the drivers are not recklessly driving them.

auto parts stores, like Reilly, Auto Zone, NAPA, do have thier own delivery vehicles

Auto insurance is mandatory everywhere in the United States.

In Colorado Springs a third of the drivers on the roads are running expired tags and I mean expired by years no tags or those stupid Sovereign Citizen tags.

How many of them do you think are carrying insurance?
Even if they are it’s not covered. No insurance company covers you while you’re driving illegally.

not true.

Car insurance is required in all U.S. states except New Hampshire and Virginia. Virginia drivers who opt out of auto insurance must pay a $500 uninsured motorist fee each time they renew their car registration.Apr 2, 2024

I have to admit, I over tip. I remember back when I was starting out, and how much tips meant to me. So yep, I over tip, nay, I WAY over tip...a few bucks means way more to them than it does to me. Shame on you that don't.
My oldest daughter made her living as bartender and waitress for quite a few years. She is a successful real estate agent now but I always think of her when tipping. Provided I get good service.
