Problems with my SA Garrison 9mm

I'm the proud owner of a Springfield Armory 9mm Garrison. I am however having some magazine problems, I have a couple of 10rd Wilson Combat Mags that almost break my thumb trying to load and after 3 or 4 rounds I have a failure to feed with the cartridge getting stuck between the feed ramp and the Mag. I also have some other 9 rd'ers that have the same problem. Has anyone experienced this have a fix or a suggestion? The Garrison is possibly the best shooter I've had in a while

Download the magazine one round for a bit. That usually takes care of tightness.

If other magazines work fine the issue is the magazine. I had a friend who was an old Armorer and he said that way over 50 percent of 1911 feed issues and stoppages were magazine related. 9mms were especially so due to the shorter cartridge than the magazines were originally designed for. New magazines are generally very reliable however. And I generally took his word for things 1911, well any firearm, he forgot more than I ever knew I think.

Tearing the mags apart and cleaning the bodies can sometimes find grit that had found its way inside causing issues. Have even on a couple different firearms seen springs installed incorrectly which caused issues.

one way to help is to load the magazines and set them aside for several days.

i had this issue with a few magazines, either factory or Wilson or NightHawk, or Metal form, or even MacGar

now even i use a maglula uploader for ALL my magazines, due to old age and some arthritis in my hands/fingers.

makes loading super easy and they are not expensive

Magma Single Stack magazine adapter would be the quickest and most efficient solution for easy loading of the magazines

I would clean off all the shipping lube and re-lube with Wilson Combat Lube. I have used it on 1911's for years and it works. I would not jump to polishing anything just yet. On the 9 mm 1911 platform I bought one each of every high quality mag MidwayUSA carried, as my 9 mm is a Colt from the late 80's when feeding problems were a way of life with the 9 mm 1911. Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat/Vickers and Chip McCormick products all cured its feeding problems.
