I received my optic plate today, 14b, and doesn't fit on the gun. The factory plate mounts as one would expect. But, no dice on the new one. The screws that came with the plate don't thread into it either. Clearly a different pitch. I would be willing to accept I'm doing it wrong, but 20 years in aviation and auto as a tech would suggest probably not.

I just tried to mount my 14b AOS plate to my Prodigy 4.25 and had the same problem. The plate fits into the dovetail at the rear of the slide but the front of the plate won’t fit into the slide cut! I’ve been an engineer in the defense industry for almost 40 years so I understand tolerance stack up, but wanted to see what Springfield recommended before I take any metal off the front of the plate.

I just put a 508t on my Prodigy yesterday. I thought the same. I put the plate under the rear of the slide and it was sprung up…like it was too long. I moved it side to side a little and I actually tapped it with my finger and it dropped in place. It will go….it had a little snap sound when it seated.

Same. Plate for my 407c…. Thought it was bad, started to get the file out…. Just had to be lined up perfectly then it snapped in. It’s damn tight. I used the screws holding the factory plate down to tighten down the new plate with a dab of blue loctite.
I used the short screws that came with the sight as the other were too long. Tighten to spec…150 rounds yesterday, about to go put it through more paces today. I checked torque of the screws after about 100 rounds, still good to go.

I used the short I got a package of short screws and long screws with my 407C. As noted, The long screws hit the slide.
Short screws worked fine. I did a test fit first…and I knew working through the blue loctite would present a bit of a challenge. They worked, I added a tiny dab prior to reassembly…. Make sure the front/back are lined up and maybe give it a tap. Or put your AOS plate in the freezer for a little bit.

I had sent out an XD-M none OSP slide to Powder River Precision to be cut for optics. They make a cut that appears almost identical to the cut on the OSP slides. They also provided the cover plate, an adapter plate of my choosing and the screws.
I found the Powder River Plate wouldn't fit my XD-M Elite OSP slides, it could if you forced it, it needed to be screwed down to lay flat. I also found the Powder River plate also had such close tolerances, that it often hung up trying to place it into the cut, you had to insert perfectly square or push it hard to force it, and get a snap as it popped into place. After Cerakoting my Powder River Precision cut slide and adapter plate, just the Cerakote took it out of tolerances and the plate fit to tight. I had to file the plate down a bit and re-cerakote it. And the filing required to go from not fitting to fitting perfectly, was very little, easily just thousands of an inch....
So, from the posts, it does sound like it might be the same deal. Tolerances so tight, it has to be inserted perfectly square or you hit interference, it might require forcing it a bit and see if it snaps into place.

Update, after removing a smidgen of the cerakote off the front edge and a hair more off the back of the recessed area it snapped in. And I mean snapped. If I ever have to remove it, it may be easier to buy a new slide. Screws were a formality at this point. But she is mounted up and ready for range time.

My take on this is is I would rather have it fit tight then be loose and cause zero issues sighting it in.

Glad you got it to work. I followed a different recommendation and left my plate in the freezer for a while and was able to get it to snap into Place. My 507c is now mounted and I can hardly wait to zero it and put some rounds down range.

In October I purchased the A14B plate from Springfield Armory. Today I notice that the screw that holds the rear sight on the A14B plate in place is missing and the sight is moving left and right. I need to replace the missing screw to secure the sight. Does anyone know the type of screw and size I need?
