Quality/Price Ratio for Pistols, Do Higher Priced Pistols Mean Better Quality?

i do believe many "reasonably thinking and over all great people" think the same.

to me, it's the conceited, self centered, narcissist, belligerent, ignorant, show-offy people that think one is below them in class.

but to be honest, saying all that...........i'd not be caught dead with a Hi Point.........when a perfectly good Turkish gun is available.
I agree, me myself am just an ex automatic transmission mechanic, turned welder and finally a building material estimator/field rep for the last 32 years. I save to buy a nice gun and sometimes a not nice gun. But I never look down on a fellow enthusiast for thier choice of giddy up. My motto is "WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER". Peace.

Oh it's not that I don't like Glock, I just enjoy pulling Glock chains. Next we start on Taurus...😁

Yes, this is the issue I run into at some of my firearm stores. I have been told by numerous individuals to "Buy American Made" the minute I ask about a SAR or Girsan, some of these guys roll their eyes at me like I am the worst customer ever.
I wouldn't say buy American made. Maybe don't buy Turkish made.

In fact I have went out of my way to not buy American made. HKs and Walthers. I made damn sure the ones I bought were German made. I wouldn't have bought them otherwise. And I made sure my IWIs were Israeli made. In fact the last American made handgun I bought was before I joined this forum ( XD Mod 2 Service model .45). And the last American made long gun I bought ( inherited doesn't count) that wasn't a stripped lower I built a gun around was the KSG25 I bought probably right around when I joined this forum.

Bob, your XD mod2 is made in Croatia, not here, only Springfield guns made here are the metal guns.

Ah the Taurus...the ugly step-child of the firearm world. Though once in the blue moon they can surprise the community. I don't hate on them that much. but I swear every Gun Store I have been to, the employees never recommend them. Once I asked an employee, "If you all hate the Taurus so much why do you carry so many?" His answer, "Because sadly they sell...A LOT."

I've told my Taurus story enough here I feel stupid doing it again. I have a 8.38" 44 Magnum that I bought when I was around 21 ( so about 35 years ago) that has been flawless. You couldn't give me a Taurus semi auto. And I have reasons, unlike arguably my dislike of Turkish handguns, which in reality I have only had experiences ( all bad) with Turkish shotguns.

Fun story on that, I was at one of the shops in my area, a Dunham's, any way I overheard an interesting conversation, a woman was looking to buy her first pistol, the man at the counter stopped her from pointing at a Rock Island and said she should buy a pistol from the US. Then the very next sentence he was praising the Beretta, Walther, and HK pistols....like seriously my guy? lol

i have only had Turkish Tisas guns (in 1911 45 ACP), Girsan in both 9mm and 1911's in 45 ACP, and NEVER an issue...in fact very good guns they are. but i keep "some guns" longer than others, and generally sell ANY gun i own, from ANY country of origin, when the round count gets (to me) high....but i have also sold guns with under 200 rounds thru it too.

the Turkish gun makers actually offer an excellent product for the dollars spent.

sadly, some here have had issues with Turkish guns in the past.....but i never did.

When I worked at LGS the only reason we sold so many Taurus firearms had to do with price only. Even when we tried to mention some faults price was the deciding factor, nothing else.

you know, its funny...the RSO i see every week at the public range, is NOT a Glock guy....

but he told me he carries a Glock.........."cuz they shoot when you need them too"......
I was just talking to our agencies' firearms instructor supervisor on Friday.
I personally don't really like them.
Have thousands of rounds and hundreds of hours of training. Actual real training, not just throwing lead downrange, and I still don't care for them. They absolutely do work, but like others, I hate the grip angle, but, I absolutely hate the trigger.
I don't understand why everyone loves them so much

It's like any product on the market, it's a popularity contest, and Glock won out. I'm sure something else will come along in time.

From the research I've done (Videos, stats, public information on different firearms) and owning a SAR B6, I think it was a good buy and for a great price.

I think people buy Glocks because they always work. So do others though. And have for years. These days I think the majority of people with Glocks are cops and spooks.
Oh I have researched Glocks and they are very well made pistol. Great reliability, accurate, well made, I just don't care to own one. My preference is leaning more toward DA/SA Hammer fires, but that is what I have trained on and use. Again nothing against striker fires.
