Exact-a-mundo. That's why I just default to 10mm. Full size on nightstand, compact for carry and a PCC in 10 just in case SHTF!

45 XDM bedside… Wife has a 380 EZ, only because she shoots it so well. I prefer she land a couple lower power rounds on target than miss altogether.

Good article. It goes without saying this has been discussed many times but things important are always worthy of re-visiting. The best gun for any defensive situation is the weapon your most comfortable handling and shooting. Train and practice and ALWAYS focus on safety.

There's a lot I agree with in the article, but the author comes off kind of arrogant.

"What do I use for home defense? The same thing as my fellow GSL Defense Training instructors.

First, a bit of background: Each of my fellow instructors are quite fluent in handguns and pretty good to exceptional with long guns as well. In other words, we can have whatever we want and make it work effectively.

Other than the one fellow who has an autistic son at home, we all have pump-action shotguns as our general purpose, go-to home defense gun. Ponder that for a moment."

As if being a GSL Defense Training Instructor is supposed to mean anything to me. And as if what works for them works for everyone. That's not to say I don't agree with him personally. I mean I have a Mossberg 500 close enough to grab without even getting out of bed.

I guess I don't know what point I'm trying to make, it just rubbed me a little wrong is all. I have met plenty of so called " Instructors" and I don't generally value their opinions much higher than my own and certainly not as much as my friends who actually have combat and LEO experience. And this guy may be a SEAL, I don't know. I just immediately get turned off when someone brags about being an instructor and/or intimates that what they use is the best.
