Exercised the .308’s yesterday on a nice sunny Tx day.

- M1a - Vortex Strike Eagle 1x6. Need a hair more glass for past 100 yards for my liking . 6x was tough on these old eyes for 100 yards .
Easy acquisition to 75 ish though.
M1a put in 1”-2” groupings at 100 yrds and that’s on me . Not the best distance guy. 25&50 yards had the holes touching . 168 gr match ammo

-Colt LE901 - AGM 6x24 scope
Lots of glass .. see nose hairs out to 100 yrds
Holes touching from 25-100 yrds. Dime size .
Really need the higher magnification for the 100 yrds with my eyes.
This gun / scope combo is an absolute tac driver . 175 gr M118 ammo

Great day with couple iconic .308’s

Consider the following on the M1A.
  1. Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42
  2. US Optics SN-3 1.8-10x44
  3. Zeiss Victory 2.5-10x42
  4. EOTech Vudu 2.5-10x44
  5. Trijicon Credo 2-10x36
  6. Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10X44
  7. Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44
Or for any medium-range optic needs.

I’ve got plenty of good high magnification scopes I can swap around.
Just wanted a good 75 yard ish scope for quick acquisition for hogs during daytime .
Have a spot where they’re usually about 50 yards away on avg.
May rethink and swap the vortex 1x6 to another gun though.

I like the 2/2.5-10X magnification range for some semi's and bolt guns were I keep things on 2/2.5 for general viewing & then zoom into 10X for a more precise shot if needed. My area & what's crawling around my area requires those two options for general woods work. If a 4-legged threat pops up suddenly the low end is handy for those situations.

I have higher-powered scopes on more longer-range bolt guns.

You're killing me Killer. I got another 4" snow last night over 5" 2 nights ago...14F for a high today, getting down to -14F tonight. Still haven't been able to fire my new M1A and it's been 3-4 weeks...but keep rubbing it in, appreciate the pics. Going to the range is absolutely no fun unless its at least 25F with little wind. Might be a few weeks (or months).

Thinking the same thing …

I have no concern with the gun performing in the cold it’s just I don’t feel like freezing my a$$ off to shoot, it’s been from between 10-30 degrees the last few weeks, 🥶🥶 I’ll go on a Saturday when it hits at least 45-55
I will say I really like the Sig Sauer Sierra3BDX scope I have on my M1A the two together are a great combination.

Have you considered the Gen 3 Vortex 1-10? I have it and love it. Would meet the needs you specified.

I have plenty of good scopes, include a few extra. Just need to find the correct combo for my needs.
Not really looking to buy any new glass.
Just swap around based on some needs .
FAL’s are not precision rifles, so may pull this high powered Vortex glass and swap it out on the M1A
