Range Day, baby !!!!

I agree. My "cheap" one has not given me hardly any problems, but it left a lot to be desired, as one would expect from a cheaper fire arm. I suppose that is the same as anything a guy wishes to customize. I guess if you are not into customizing, you might save a few bucks, but once you decide to upgrade and get that ball rolling it does not take long before you have as much into a cheaper one than a more expensive one.
I have yet to build my own, and will possibly look into that someday. I am still in the stage of buying them, thinking they are a blast, then thinking of how they can be improved. My inner engineer coming out I guess.
You are absolutely right, as far as my case goes, about not ‘toe dipping’. I’ve experienced that already with my 1911. .45s and don’t want the same if I go AR...
My first “.45” as my Dad calls ‘em, was my plain mil-spec RIA. Just wanted it for bedside. Couldn’t resist the $300 price and it looked good too. Started firing, and decided to get another so I went a bit higher up the ladder...and...
...I now also have an upgrade/mid level RIA, two Ronins and the Spgfld Vickers Master Class...and looking strong at a Wilson Cbt. Sheesh.
Soon as i got that first Ronin and shot it, I realized several things ‘wrong’ with my entry and mid level RIAs. Got an Ed Brown barrel I haven’t fitted yet; dunno when I can. Point is, that cost $160 a year ago. To get it to what I’m now used to and like/want, the RIA will be at the Ronin price and could exceed it if i do everything. Still won’t be as good though !

This crap is addictive. I think I need a support group. (No, not you yo-yo’s !).

oh yeah, that first RIA mil with the smooth wood grips? It’s laying around here... Somewhere. 🤔😒

I like the way the first one is laid out...wish ours was more open like that. I suppose the heat can get way up there but looks arid ( as in, no NC humidity - the one thing I hated about moving back to home..) Do they require shooters to police up their brass?

The heat? Oh it varies from might need gloves to shoot, to hell on earth. The pictures were taken in Jan 2021, probably around 60s, but the sun will still burn you. In the summer months, I'll bring a cooler of coconut water, and a small vial of pink salt. I learned the hard way couple years ago, running drills in 120F.

Yeah, we've gotta pickup our own brass at this place. But tbh, I've almost never seen anyone else there when we go. A couple of my friends give private instruction here as a side hustle.
