Red Dot Gap on Echelon

I looked at an Echelon that came with the Crimson Trace red dot as part of the gear up promotion, but it wasnt sitting flush to the slide and I could see the locking pins/lugs. Upon researching this it seems to be a known thing. Some people used a thing plate to get rid of the visible gap.

Are there any optics that mount directly without a visible gap?

I see the list of approved optics.

I'm not aware of this issue, must be only the CT optic. I use Holosun Greendots (507C & 507K) and they are a direct mount. Most of the approved list of optics found in the Echelon manual are direct mount without a plate.

Holosun EPS on SA Echelon. It's a direct mount no plate needed.

This is not uncommon among certain optics and often times requires the restrained us of a file. Or you can sometimes get a sealing membrane that fits under the optic. You can also buy a shim - based on optic footprint to close up the gap, assuming it is small.

Or…small rubber mallet. Just sayin’…

Personally any optic I had to do any of that to would be going back or getting sold. I highly recommend he go with the EPS. Green.

More often than not, it’s the gun, not the optic, but EPS or EPS Carry is not a bad choice - a bit pricy. The SCS has been known for fitment issues.
Guess I’m lucky. Never had any issues whatsoever with any optic. Sure I don’t have a drawer full of overstock like you do, but I have about 15 of them at the moment.
