This is a great and well-written story! I hope some Hollywood-type chooses to write a screen play of the life of the Russian designer and the bird itself!! (Reminds me of the A-10 'Warthog'.)

My Dad was infantry in WW2 and he said they loved when the P47 was supporting them.
He said the only sound better than the radial engine was the 8-50's firing on the enemy.

Same in the Nam when the F-4s and A-4s came in for Close Air Support, dropping nape and snakes.
