The best part is having employers send me a check every month so I won't come back.I retired nine years ago.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I got used to not working for a living.

I sleep in a lot too, used to wake up at 330 every morning, these days it's 430.

yup almost every day around 3 or so i get the feeling to re charge and catch a combat nap
go to bed around 12 am, wake up at 3 or so, walk around
try to go back to sleep for a few hrs
still on the 2am get up to take grand child to work routine
I love retirement. No one watching my every move, no boss, no rules and regulations. I can go to the gun range when I feel like it. I've traveled to almost every state and traveled to 5 continents. Once a month my former employer sends me a check and once a month Uncle Sam sends me a check. I have a car and a truck that runs, a house that I'm comfortable in, a wife who has put up with me for 49 years, and I'm fairly good heath for a 78 year old man. Life is great.

I also get up at 4am. I have my chores then I am free to do whatever but you are correct, retirement SUCKS!

You need a hobby. Skydiving, maybe? How ‘bout bungee jumping? Maybe mountaineering? I hear everest is beautiful in the spring time.
Been retired from Law Enforcement for 5 years last month. Everyone said I'd be bored as hell.
I bought a motorcycle within a month of retirement, hadn't rode since high school, went cross country 3 times visiting old army buds and national parks on it. Ride with friends every week.
I sleep great 7 to 8 hours a night.
I go out to eat and drink with friends, but still lost 30 pounds. (morning workout and no stress).
I go to the gun range every 2 weeks, would do more but cost of ammo.
Retired with 3 pistols and an AR15... now I have over 50 guns, just to have them and customize.
Life is good, and not bored at all. Actually, find myself too busy sometimes. Police days was 20+ years of night shift. Was hell and destroys your body, mind, and soul. At that was at the retirement age of 50.

so i took a flight in a biplane with a stunt pilot for red baron pizza out over the ocean did loops and barrel rolls and laughed so hard it hurt my face and sides, couldnt stop smiling for days
outside loops are so coool

Retired at 55 yoa, 21 years ago. It took awhile to get used to not going to work. (about 3 months) I consider myself to be very lucky, everything except a new truck is paid for. My wife & I will celebrate our 54th year of marriage on Veterans Day, 11/11/23. So far my health has been pretty good, just old age minor aches & pains. I'm very thankful!!
