They have made 1911s longer than anyone but Colt I believe.

Even so Colt didn't step up their game until the likes of Kimber and other's starting selling very well CNC'd tight as a banjo string 1911's that had all the accoutrements that that Colt never put on their 1911's until forced to step up their game.

Some history.
Although the blue iconic dome will always be a reminder of Colt’s beginnings In Hartford Connecticut on the Connecticut river it was in the early 60’s I believe when Colt moved to West Hartford near what is known as Elmwood where it remains today. Elmwood is the very small town I grew up in and lived just 8 miles from Colt.

Dan Wesson 1911’s are made in Norwich, New York…and that’s CZ.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are made in the same plant in the Philippines by the same company ( Armscor) as the Charles Dalys of a decade or so ago. I have one of those CD 1911s and I got no beef with it.

It the one RIA you're looking at in LGS is the same model as shown in the article, looks to be a good deal. I'd be very tempted too.

That is correct.

Armscor/RIA/Citadel are all the same company.
