I just attended the East Coast Snub Revol Roundup at Sawmill Range with Darryl Bolke, Wayne Dobbs, Bryan Eastridge and Chuck Haggar. Over 60 participants
There were consistent hits on 8” steel at 50 yards at the distance shooting block Eastridge did.
Dobbs had some Justin Dyal drills (Justin was also in the class great guy) on what he called the Snub assessment 8” B8 from 3-20 yards for score
Bolke had an excellent pocket gun drawing one handed from a pocket.
Lots of other blocks but it was a great class
There were several folks attending that as LEOs had been involved in successful shootings with snub revolvers. They all shared their experience in a professional way.
Every participant ended up with probably 100 dollars of gifts for being there then there were prizes for drillers at each block. I won a Surefire Stiletto on one block.
Lots of 2 and 3” guns (it was a snub but they were ok with whatever you had and had loaner guns for actual snub classes)
Ruger LCRamd 2-3” GP (Dobbs has a sweet 3” Ruger Security Six that was Pat Rogers gun) lots of S&W obviously all manner J frames K etc a few Taurus and a few Kimber.
I got to shoot a S&W 642 UC quite nice a LA Sheriffs Deputy was there running a red dot he was the only one.
A great guy named Winston Wolfe was in my squad. Mr Wolf is an authority on a lot of historical revolver stuff. I got to see and handle his personal 1934 Colt Fritz that was owned by a NYPD Detective so lots of historical stuff.
(Links to part 1 and 2 on the Fritz below)
My pal Rob Garrett was in my squad and should have an article on the round up soon
Revolvers and especially snubbies are just fine for getting out of trouble they weren’t made for John Wick scenarios but they can be ran effectively if one LEARNS how!
The Gangster era is a unique part of American history. Same with the era's guns. You know the Tommy Gun, but what about the Fitz Special?
